Dillon order - crazy wait times!

I ordered a caliber exchange kit for .45acp in September of 2020. They still do not have the dies yet! On a positive note, I paid $100 less in 2020 than what they are asking for the kit now.

A neighbor lady ordered a 9mm change kit for her husband's Christmas present back in November, and is still waiting. She says she can hardly get a Dillon rep on the phone. She finally did, and was told at least another 90 days out.

They didn't mind taking her money back in November, though. That's bulls#$t.....

The 45 caliber exchange kit was $286 when I bought it in September 2020, now they are asking $380.

Yes..was on the fone with them. Telling me wait times on dies is 36 weeks=9 months. Best bet do like I did and take the hit and pay eBay prices and get what you need now.

Forget about Dillon dies for a while. They used to get carbide rings from two places, one in California, another is Israel. Both stopped operation last year (for different reasons: lockdown in CA, terrorist attacks in .il), and when they started production again, CA factory produced a lot of rings out of spec and they failed QC at Dillon. Dillon's representative hinted they found a replacement factory but it will take about a year to catch up with all the backorders for the last 1.5 years.

Are Lee dies available? They work well on Dillon presses, at least the RL550's.

                      Just got mine today

Fyi I ordered the Dillon .40 conversion kit in January. Finally received it today. 8 month back order... That was a long wait. Hopefully they will start to catch up soon.

I just called Dillon yesterday, they are stating a 12-14 month delay on carbide dies. There is a worldwide shortage of carbide material. combine that with a shortage of workers, and the pandemic, super long wait times.

I currently do not reload 9mm, as I don't own one (yet). So waiting for the dies to show up in April of 2022, will not be a big issues. It does put a damper on my plans to flip them.

Shhhh..... Dillon Fan Boi's don't wanna hear that. My across the street neighbor has been waiting patiently for his 9mm Dillon dies since last November. I offered him the same advice - buy a set of someone else's dies, but no no no no no no..... Only Dillon dies for him. Seems he's convinced that only Dillon dies will work properly on a Dillon press.

So, he sits and waits while the rest of us go shoot.
