    Need Die recommendations for processing.

so i'm looking at the CP2000 (was looking at the DL750.
I want to process brass on this machine in 9mm and 223. I need recommendations for good dies for the following station. they can be dillon-dies, Mark7-dies, Lyman dies, or other if there is a major advantage.

i will have 2 toolheads for easy caliber change. i just don't know what else i need. I did order the 223 mark7

    1 - Universal Decap (9mm/223)

    2 - Lyman M die (neck expansion) (9mm/223)

3 - Trim (using DL1500 trimmer) and need the corresponding die (only for 223)

    4 - Swaging (9mm)

i bought the Mark 7 ultimate die pack for for my apex 10 reloader
I have not purchased dies for the 9mm tool-head b/c i really waasn't sure if these were my best options.
i just want quality dies that will be usefull for when i add an autodrive to the CP2000.

NOTE - the problem with the 750 is there were just not enough stations for 223. 9mm was fine because i only needed 3 stations, but i needed 4 station (minus the priming stations) so i would/could add that task to the apex10 reloader since there is room. i just felt like having all the reprocessing tasks done on 1 machine.

With the 750 i would have to swage on the productions apex 10 for 223. not a huge deal, but....just personal preference, like not wanting to use a "seating-crimping" die. i rather have individual stations than combining things. all in all, the 750 would be less expensive.

would love to hear your setups and die recommendations!
    thanks!

The only reason to use the Lyman M die is for loading lead/cast bullets. For reloading rifle cartridges, one only needs a sizing die and a seating die. If one uses the Dillon case trimmer, one will need to remove the ring brass on the inside of the case neck before seating a rifle bullet.

interesting! i know it's not needed for 9mm (case trimmer)

so give that we are talking about a dillion xl750 with 5 stations minus the priming station....so 4, any recommendations for 223 with a 3rd party vendor?

          1 - decapping - fw arms?
2 nothing - priming station (or a holddown die)
          3 trimming/swage dillon 1500 electric trimmer/lyman trim die
          4 - sizing - ?
          5 neck expansion - ?

          OR is this more correct?
          2 sizing/decaping-die
          3 expander die
          4 size &trimming (RT1500 electric case trimmer)
          5 swaging die

where would you integrate the swage into this? does the lyman trim die incoporate swaging, or any of the other dies?

ok, i sorta get this....ok actually i plead the fifth on that. lol

what redding dies (decaping, ?...) do you use for 9mm

for 223 you said dillon dies. i'm guessing you just took the decapping die for granted and didn't mention it. so for order and die
              1 - decapping/sizing
2 hold down die? (xl750 priming station)
              3 expander
4 - trimming/swage (lyman trim die) (can you trim with the dl1500 and a trim die? i'm confused on howthis works/how it is integrated and if it is just for trimming or also swaging
              5 neck expansion

so then again, for the 9mm, i was told that no-one trims pistol brass. so would i substitue a swaging die for that?

sorry for the long post. i just get different answers from different companies and different vendors and different calguners.

              thanks again for your patients!

Don't bother with separate toolheads as it's unrealistic to swap tolheads on a machine as you will be having to re-set stuff when you swap and that wastes time AND introduces inconsistencies into your process.
You are going to want a machine dedicated to EACH cartridge/chambering you intend to load.
Set it up and then leave it alone other than refilling supplies and periodic maintenance/cleaning/lubrication.

If you are reloading USED cases, make sure that your press will swage primer pockets because used brass in both 223 and 9mm will occasionally have crimped primer pockets and missing one will potentially stop the press and waste time clearing and re-starting the loading process.
Swaging is a press function, not a die function.
You don't simply add a die in a station to make the press swage primer pockets.
The press has to be built with the mechanical parts that do the swaging.

Go read my stickied thread about processing brass in bulk.

The swaging happens between the decapping and the priming stations.
The Dillon 1050 or 1100 both do it there.
                  The 750 won't swage.
Nor does the 750 have enough stations to use a bullet feeder and a powder check die and separate seat and crimp dies like you would want for actual bulk ammo production.
You really want an automated Mark7 for 9mm as well.

Well, with that in mind set the cp up with the swage on the off side to free up station 3
