Waaay back when, there was a ammo company in Huntington Beach, called Sunrise Cartridge Company, one of there products was 45 shotshells. They used inverted gas checks and were made with RCBS? 45 shotshells dies. They actually would cycle my tuned series 70 running wolf springs and wilson shock buffers. I think still have a few of them (shot shells). any suggestions on how to disect and replicate their load. Not sure if cycling was just a fluke or they had a recipe that good.Comment

Not sure what a ".45 RCBS Shot shell die" is, but I'd like sure like to know! I suspect shot shell dies are same or similar to blank crimp dies.
I'm open to education here, so school me if you KNOW.Tire kickers gonna kick,

^^^Thanks for that link! Good info there. I don't have .41 dies so I used a
40 S&W die.
I thought about changing the process sequence as you described, but then after the first load/shoot cycle, I'm back to the same problem.
I did realize that a change to my wad cutter might help. I had been using cardboard wads, and I sharpened the inside of the case to cut a slightly larger diameter wad over the ID of the shot shell cases.
Cardboard was flexible and compressible so they made a good tight fit inside the cases.
Plastic...not so much. So I realized if I make another cutter for plastic wads with the knife edge on the outside, the wad diameter will be smaller and maybe easier to install and seat.
If that doesn't work I may look for different wad material, or just up the powder charge a little at a time and use cardboard for wads.Tire kickers gonna kick,

I also had better results using 308 cases rather than 30-06

I had good luck using 41 mag dies to form the brass (cut down 308), used a cut down 410 wad to hold the shot, and made little clear plastic discs to keep it all in.
Used 700x, and had surprisingly good results. Fired in both the 1911 and the Sig P220 cycled just fine.
I went to look for the YouTube that I followed, but can't seem to find it.
