I just use walnut media with Dillon case polish. My cases do not have to be super shine.

I voted walnut - I've used both. I use the Dillon polish as well.

For 'factory shine' only corn cob will do.
Not true at all. Walnut does just fine. I have cases that look brand new better than new that have been fired several times. Flitz or Odorless Mineral Spirits added in very small (teaspoon) amounts to the walnut media works very well.

For the nasty range pickup junk I de-prime and run in wet ceramic media. Ceramic media is tuff stuff. It will last me another 20 or 30 years, I'll be dead before then.

I'll have to get some corn cob and try it. I would have tried corn cob already, but the feed store I go to does not carry corn cob. They have the walnut shell in 50lb bags for a few bucks so that is what I have been using. A 50lb bag lasts me years. I can't even remember when I bought the bag I'm using now.

I always use a couple of dryer sheets in each load also, cuts way down on the dust seems to help keep the media cleaner, longer by trapping the dust. I must admit I've never noticed a problem with my cases being "dusty" from the walnut media.

I like walnut. Cases will be dusty for the first two cycles but will last me 10 6-hour cycles before it starts turning gray. I use two used dryer sheets and when the cycle is done, they are black.

I use walnut with cut paper towels to lessen the dust. I also stick some car wax to polish up the brass. They end up looking new.

I tried both but I get more batch cleaned from walnut before it turns gray.
