That's what Raufoss is for. If you're trying to break something with a rifle, use the Raufoss, it's designed for that.

SLAP was designed for machine guns to zip through lightly armored vehicles, like an APC or Bradley or even old tanks. If you think about their purpose it doesn't make sense to switch them. SLAP sucks for just shooting people. The guy with the 60 in Black Hawk Down had SLAP for some unknown reason. He said people would barely react when he shot them, they just zipped right through them making a small hole.

I know 30-06 black tip - tungsten core - was not best on people

I can’t believe a 4,000 FPS projectile would not cause a reaction in a human.

The temp shock Chanel would seem huge.

      Projectile:
      Weight ......................355-360
      Performance:
      Chamber pressure........55,000

Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Hard pass. I'm not buying old or surplus military ammo.

It was in his 60, so 7.62 NATO. According to various intarweb blurbs, it was a failure in 7.62, but the guy said in the book it's what he had during the operation. Look at the pics of it, it's shaped like a needle, and the 7.62 projectile is only .22 caliber. From what they said, the skinnies were hard to put down anyway because they were usually high.

I believe you, and I know that with some calibers there isn't a good alternative. I started reloading to avoid a squib or other misfire scenario like the one Kentucky Ballistics just experienced. Too many unknowns with old ammo for me.
