Brass and other shell casing that you avoid

AMERC .45 ACP has loose primer pockets - the primers fall out.

It may have gotten better, but I had about 10% of the Winchester unprimed .243 brass with creases in the shoulder. They did send me a new bag when I contacted them. (But it still had a couple with creases...)

I bought some bulk .204 Ruger Nosler brass that turned out to be "unprepped," meaning it had to be full length resized in order to be used. I guess that is why the price was right.

I am processing some Western Cartridge brass. My understanding is that it is an Olin brand, but manufactured to NATO standards whereas Winchester is not. The brass is thicker than Winchester. Does anyone have an insight to reloading Western Cartridge brass? Is my understanding correct? Annealing Made Perfect has a standard program for Western Cartridge brass in 308 Winchester for series 14 -- but no other series. What I have is largely series 13. Has anyone run an AZTEC analysis on series 13. What is the setting you get? I also have a number of series 08. Has anyone tested that series with the AZTEC program? If so, what results did you get?

I avoid crimped 9mm brass and just toss em rather than swage

Ya stepped brass shoukd be tossed/avoided. Had one case shear off at the step and thankfully the thin top part of the case slid right out of the chamber.

I have squished many-a-primer on crimped (X)M855...
I now stop if it doesn't just seat easily, and then swap out for another piece of brass, then swage the problematic brass after I run out of issue-free brass....

Specifically I'm having a problem resizing/decapping. The IVI brass keeps pushing my decapping pin up and/or just bulges the primer without actually removing it. I don't seem to have this problem with LC brass.

Once the primer is removed I (like you) swage all the primer pockets to iron out the crimp, no problems after that.

It might be that I'm being overly cautious, but I don't have any extra decapping pins around so I'm just skipping the IVI brass for the moment.

I'll check it out. I don't know how much of this IVI stuff I have, it's all pickups from the last time I went shooting on BLM.

If I didn't already have the Lee (and was doing a lot of military brass) I'd go with the Mighty Armory decapper. But I do, (and don't) so...

Federal Small Primer 45ACP. I ended up with some in a large batch of Brass. Been through the brass twice culling it. I still find them the hard way once in awhile when I'm chugging along on the Dillon. Drive me crazy.
