All through this I have ordered bullets and just waited a few weeks to have them delivered, short of the dirty looks from my mail lady all has gone ok.

So obviously the primers are the driving factor in short supply right now but how does this shake out when things start coming back in to supply. If primers start coming back on the shelves will there be powder to go along or because it faded in supply later will that be behind the primers in coming back in stock. And what about bullets, will there be a bigger demand once primers and powders are back?

Or, because of the unprecedented situation is this a unforeseeable, wait and see? I've only been reloading a few years so I've never navigated a shortage before, but to be sure I won't get caught with my pants down again, at least with regard to reloading
I think the primer shortage will ease up as Remington production of primers and ammunition ramps up. I anticipate the new owners will optimize production to levels not seen before their bankruptcy.

If Remington can indeed alleviate pressure on the primer supply, I anticipate powder shortages will increase for a while. Folks who are new to reloading probably aren't buying powder right now if they can't get primers? Once they can acquire primers, they are going to go looking for powder, brass, and bullets I suspect.

In other words, unless the powder is stored inside your house exceeds 20 pounds, or you are running a commercial operation.....your detached man cave doesn't appear to have smokeless powder weight restrictions?

So basically if you have a detached garage then you can exceed the limits?

That's good to know. I'm seeing primers and powder show up at the local slowly so they're still coming. The scalpers and flippers won't keep this up forever and once inventory starts sitting on LGS stores for more than a few days, the scalpers will panic and start selling stuff at retail prices without sales tax or less just to free up cash.

That's the time to stock up for the next shortage.

There might be a bunch of primer cups melted in with plastic all neat like. They can count melted containers/jugs of powder maybe. My used primer container hopefully wouldn't be mistaken for hoarding.

I got 8 pounds of US869 from Midway several weeks ago. It had been on a "Notified when in stock" listing for several months. Still waiting on LRP's to start loading up for my new rifle. B.

If any of this new assault weapon garbage passes we'll be dealing with this to at least 2023.

I’ve seen powder come in and out of stock pretty regularly. I was able to acquire n320, titegroup with some patience. I did rush to buy n320 1lb after hazmat and tax from midwayusa it came out to $60/lb due to the limit so that is current fair market price. Wait for larger lbs to buy and make it more worth it.

Primers have also come in and out of stock usually limit 1k or 5k but you have to act fast.

Bullets seem to be the thing that take the longest right now in bulk for a decent price and time. I’ve ordered blue bullets but they take 12-16 weeks to ship at $.06 per bullet. Ugh..

I went to the powder valley website yesterday. They did not have ANY powder of any type available. How do you fun a business sigh nothing to sell?

I'd stay off midway for componants like primers and powder. Thier restrictions make it not worth it IMO. Only allowing 1k primers or 1lb per order can get expensive with hazmat. Midsouth and Grafs are good spots as thier order limits range from 10lbs per order per type or more. Was able to get 10lbs x2 types of powder, and at least 5lbs from Hodgen site. I imagine primers would be limited but more like 5k or 2 (3)k per type from those sites.

I think just like the .22 shortage, the scalpers/resellers are going to stretch out the limited supply era. At some point, all the people who want to personally hoard components will be full or broke. Then the majority of everyone else will be buying what they need spread out over time, just like normal. But the resellers jumping in and grabbing everything they can will keep availability low and 2nd hand prices up longer than they would otherwise.
