“Normal” ammo prices and reloading components

Been reloading since 98 back then i was paying about 105 per 1k of 223 and a little less for 45.

Primers were about 8-10 bucks per 1k
bullets were 35 per 1k of .223
50-70 per 1k of .45 depending on style and weight

Was very slight increase around 2006 or so then in 08 and up things started going up little more.Today too many flippers and greed ruin it by showing how idiots will pay top dollar for ammo out of desparation.

Shooting use to be a reasonable priced hobby today aint cheap at all to be a hobby unless you stick to 22,We as gun owners did this to ourselves !!

I don't know how anyone older than 18 got caught with their pants down this time around. Covid might be a new thing but other events since Sandy Hook have tipped off everyone what might happen and it did.

Anyways. I snagged a bunch of primers from Big 5 three years ago for 19 bucks a thousand. I also cleaned out their .22 lr for a couple pennies each.

Stop dweliing in the past. Never see those prices again. I did get 1k of 22 lr thunderbolt for 40 bucks 2 weeks ago.

Millions of people did go out and buy guns that have never owned a gun before like now. If you want ammo you have to work for it. No more super deals. By the time it is posted OOS.

Never in the history of panics.. has the price of popular items ever returned to what it was pre-panic. It just doesn't happen. Walmart's Federal 550 packs were 15 bucks before the panic and around $25 after the dust settled. Sure, its not a $50 brick, but its still a 66% increase when its all said and done. We now see a $20 brick as a pretty good deal.

Will things regulate and come down from what they are right now? Yes of course. Will they return to what they were pre-panic? No way. Not for the things people actually want anyway. Oddball powders and things that people generally dont buy unless they have no choice might get close.
