    Powder suggestions

I just picked up some Sierra 169gr .308 HPBT pills. While I know it is a bad time to try and find powder, can anyone recommend a good temp stable and meters well in a Dillon super 1050?

first thing that comes to mind would be H4895 never used in with the 168s but it worked pretty good with the 175s

It has a long-proven and outstanding record with both 165gr Sierra GameKings and 168gr MatchKings. And temperature stable across the board. Not sure about the metering part in a Dillon, but my RCBS Uniflo's have no issue with it.

          Varget, RL-15, 4064, Benchmark, VV N140, etc.

There's a crapload of powders that work well in 308.

Do you really need the temp stability, or is it just something you saw? I personally don't know too many people who shoot in wildly varying conditions, or load a bunch and shoot them months later (the latter might just be who I shoot with though.)

I use IMR 4895 with SMK 168 grain for my AR10 and am having superb results
42.4-42.6 grains seems to be the sweet spot.

The beauty of IMR 4895 & 4064 is the generous accuracy charge "node" that is basically .5 grain wide. This is well within most meter drops even with the crunchy IMR4064.

The US military M118 308/7.62 ammo uses IMR4895 with a 168 gr bullet. The Mk316 ammo uses IMR4064 with a 175 gr bullet for better long range (600+ yds) performance .

With those temps, just about any powder you choose will be fine. Ramshot TAC, RL#15, Varget, IMR 4895, IMR 4064, these will all work. IMR 4895 may be your best bet. But, these are all very good powders for your needs.

OP most of those powders listed are extruded powders and don't meter all that well

I seriously wonder if some of the guys on the varget bandwagon have ever used it, it meters horribly.

Something to keep in mind, most non temperature sensitive powders are only less temperature sensitive. They're not the magical temperature impervious powder everyone makes them out to be. You will always have a POI shift over a large temperature range. Just be prepared for it by shooting over your anticipated temperature range so you know how much you'll need to adjust your for.
