Is it worth doing a load development for a pc carbine

Everything I put in mine is accurate enough for a $40 red dot at 75 yd...
plated and PC Reloads, FMJ reloads, FMJ Factory, even bulk.

I don't load precision anything, as I am not a hunter, yet.
Maybe when I move to a free-state... ... ...

I guess it depends on how far you want to go with it. I personally never had too much trouble "working up" a load for handguns.. the biggest issues were usually with reliable feeding, velocity, and dirtiness of the load. Accuracy was never too much of an issue. Most everything I put together was more accurate than I could actually shoot, anyway.

Rifles shooting bottleneck cases? Different story altogether.

I developed a load for my Glock 19 years ago. It shoots well for all my 9mm, including my PCC.

I am moving to CFE pistoal after I finish my last jug of W231. Ill develop a general load based off my favorite sidearm again then.

FYI, make sure to check with the plunk test...
All of my 9mm handgun ammo is great, but it sticks to the lands in the PC carbine, so I have to seat deeper if to be used in everything, from now on...

I like the CFE Pistol although it doesn't work well, under powered for me in .380 or my Shield 9mm but great in the XD 5" 9mm or 45acp. It's sooty on the cases but not smoky when fired. Slower powder so it likes a longer barrel.

My 124 gr. loads all shoot well in my pistols and even better in my carbine. That's different hollowpoints and FMJ's. So I say if 9mm loads shoot good in your pistols, no need for work-ups in your carbine. Plus you don't have to have them separated for each. Expect about 150 to 200fps more velocity in your 16" carbine. Maybe up to 250 fps?

I load 115 FMJ, 4.7gr HP38 @ 1.105 COL through a G19 and Keltec Sub2k. Ive done maybe 10k through the sub2k with that recipe. Brass is clean in the G19 (gen5), but a little dirty on the blowback Keltec. I can hit 4in steel all day long at 95M standing with the keltec (red dot, no magnification). Lots of fun and cheap to shoot.

I personally wouldnt bother with a load workup with a straight blowback 9mm carbine. Make it hot. You want the case to make a good seal since it will start moving when the bullet moves.
