45acp side ways primers need help

I get those in batches on my 650 and now on the 750 I can go 2-3 runs (500 rounds) and no problem then get 5-10 in a run. I run primarily CCI primers. ON the 650 I never changed the primer seating piece---always left it on small for over 50K rounds of large primer loads so that wasn't it. I think one poster was close----might be going to fast as I tend to run along pretty good. I find that if you go to fast the new brass doesnt get seated well in the case plate which can in itself cause alignment issues. And then there is the alignment itself. Even bought that tool and the issue was intermittent. I still think its a speed issue.

You could just ignore sage advice from AR15 Barrels and wait for the smoke and flash.

Come to think of it 9 out of 500 doesn't seem so bad i just was used to none coming out bad when I did my 9mm run of 2000

Make sure you wear safety glasses. Also make sure that the press you deprime the cases on, does not have any primers in or on it. Don't knock these out on your Dillion if the primer tube is loaded.

Then, de prime. Don't rush, don't push hard.

15 years on a Lee turret and never had one like that or up side down. I've always finger primed. But only 2 desk pops.

Dillon 650’s are notorious on doing this for 45ACP. If you’re able to get ahold of Dillon they will send you an alignment tool. The tool aligns the shell plate with the primer feed. Does it always work ? No. If you still have issues send the press to Dillon. They should fix it for free.
On another note. The 750 has the same priming system as the 550. Hardly no issues on either. According to Dillon you are unable to put the 750 priming system on a 650.

I have had my 650 since the early 90’s. I have had this issue periodically over the years but always with SPP. I recently found the tightness on the shell plate had a major impact on the issue. I was running it a little to loose and I believe it was causing a case alignment issue. Once tightened a little more it all went away. I also run graphite between the shell plate and base. I have been doing this for years. It does seems to make things run smoother.

I think he has the large disc with small primers.
That's the only way I can figure so many got turned sideways.

just deprime them slow the ones with perfect flips save those they are still good

Randall is right you have a small primer punch in there you can see from the picture you posted the outline of the small punch so change to large.
