    Did I get cheated ?

I bought some new ammo from a gun shop (Lake city Ammo corp) and when I got home and opened the box, it looked like reloads to me.

I contacted the manufacturer and they are telling me that's how the new ammo comes shipped, and that's what it looks like.

I have never seen new ammo shipped in a bag, with dark necks, and scuffed up cases.

I have serious doubts, but let me know your thoughts.

    Check out the pics.

could be repackaged nato surplus, but complete guess on that.

typically works fine in the right rifles, and whether you got cheated depends on how much you paid.

Maybe it was linked. I just ordered some linked 50bmg (4ball 1 tracer), made in 2019 (LC 19). It looks rough already.

What does the stamping on the rim say ? Are they all the same cases ?

Milspec with annealed case necks. Looks like out of the can ammo we used for the 60s.

Show a pic of the headstamps. That will give an indication of its origin. Im wondering if the primers are crimped and this came from some batch of military surplus stuff.

head stamp should all be LC with a year date such as 18 or 19 since box states each box is from a lot. they are not polished so discoloration is normal. and yes, being in a bag is not abnormal.

I've gotten loads of bulk ammo in a bag like that. The necks do look tarnished, but I can't see a reloader reloading and not tumbling, so I suspect they're annealed and just poorly handled. If all the head stamps match, I'd say they're telling the truth about it being new.

Don't sweat it. I have had Federal XM 193 sold me this way (in legit Federal boxes).

Necks not tarnished poster clueless as to LC annealing/ loading processes. Cases do not all tarnish identically.
