    One mans trash...

The range recyclers must have taken a weekend off.
I like to use the greens for light trap/skeet. Clears for slugs, reds for 00 and greys for 4s. The gold ones I've designated as high power bird to cycle those finicky semi-autos.
500 of the 556s came from one person so I know they are once fired.
    I didn't even pick up the 38/357, 45, 40, and 308s.

The cheapest new .223 cases I could find on Ammoseek run 40 cents apiece (about double what I'd thought they were).

Dirty once-fired brass runs around ten cents.

Brass you pick up not only costs you nothing, it's worth about a penny and a half when you decide to toss it in the recycling bucket. You get to use the cases for free and then get paid when it's time to get rid of them.

Nice score, OP! Free brass automatically means it's a good day.

I would've picked up the .308, though. That's a good rifle round and you can always trade .308 brass for something else that you might need.

              Our plan is a .308 rifle or two, and a 30-30, and always pickup .308, 30-30, 7.62x*, 30-06, 9mm, .223/5.56, .45ACP,.38 SPL, .357 Mag.

I started picking up .40 S&W for a friend, hoping he'd reload eventually, but he no longer has his .40, but I have a new range buddy, and might convince him to do so. He used to reload .308, but sold his .308.

You never know who you can trade for what...

I didnt own a 45acp but seemed to have a bit saved. I pick up a 1911 today and glad I saved it. One never knows what is in store for the future.

I go to the range to shoot. I have a ton of the other stuff and they don't go bad so quickly. I only allot a bit of dawn time to pick up. Then it's a race before the sun makes it over the hill to get sighting in or some clay shooting. I'm excited to get more of the quality shotshell hulls. I think people are running out of Federal and Remington cheap stuff and moving on to Winchester AAs and Remington Nitros.

Funny thing is this was a normal haul before 2020.

That's how I got my 1st 1911..... I just kept picking up brass on my range visits, and one day I discovered that I had over 1,000 pieces. The only logical thing to do was to go buy a 1911, so I did.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

^^ You are thus helping the environment. Yes, you are. By recycling this "junk" metal, you are helping to prevent the destruction of Mother Earth by keeping that dirty, hazardous material out of the ground and eventually our beloved oceans.

And this, folks, is another reason why guns are necessary!

Except for all those wads, digging up the lead up to the surface, and CO2 being produced from powder....

I'll tell ya what guns are good for: turning shooting ranges into trash dumps and buffets for the local wildlide. Thanks to some idiot who decided a used Halloween pumpkin made a good target, a doe decided to take over my shooting lane yesterday eveniung so she could dine on the leftovers.
