    What's there to think about?

Buy it and use it for 90% of the shooting you do. Then buy something else for the 10% you do that the labradar can't cover.

Or is there something out there that ticks all the boxes AND measures over 3900 fps?

This was my journey as well.

When first getting into a "space", I generally stay conservative with my $, opting for the "Honda" version before stepping up to the "Ferrari" version, if a step up is needed and or justified.

I found my lower end chrony worked...most of the time. Many issues with phone app and "connecting". Always the worry of sun/shade as well as shooting through the "V" and not hitting anything (unnecessary "pressure"). Not to mention the setup effort at the range in front of the bench with the tripod and if there were issues to troubleshoot, you're stuck until cease fire.

Upgraded to Labradar and have never looked back. All the setup/connectivity/reliability issues disappeared and it's been my go to ever since day one. Don't need the phone/app as everything is stored on the mem card, but can also BT sync with app. I like the app data layout/presentation/data.

Downside, depending on how you look at it is $ --> $$$$. It's easily 4x+ the cost of the average chrony. I've seen great "package" deals on eBay for them used, however.

I'm happy with my Labradar and can't say enough about it as I watched it from initial "announcement" (skeptical idea and choked @ the price) to years later before diving in. This was one I was in no rush to be first with.

I have a PACT Model 1 that will measure as fast as I want and since I shoot on private ranges the advantages of not waiting for line breaks to set up doesn't matter any. The Labradar was just going to be a new toy.

I also use the pro chrono DLX, I love mine. The bluetooth comes in handy and having all your load data saved on your phone is a big perk I didn't consider before buying it.

              I really like my LabRadar.

It fits really nicely with their bench tripod in this case I found: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm using this battery to power it and get multiple range trips out of a charge: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

              Just my $0.02.....

For $560.00? I have a Chrony #1 at around $100.00 that works just fine.

I have this chrono, and the adapter. You are right, it works just fine as-is. But the adapter is a very handy thing to have - you can save and import/export shot strings, and see results in-hand as you shoot, without having to go out to the chono to read or reset anything.

                        I really like it.

Actually that is a good question. I have never checked it against another chronograph. I have been thinking of upgrading a bit (the one I have is getting a little rough and it is kind of a pain to put together). I'm not going with a $560.00 chrono though.

I was thinking about just getting rid of the chrono and going with an electronic target. The ShotMarker targets that we use at Cuyama measure the bullet velocity at impact out to 2 miles but the bullet must be still at supersonic velocities t o measure accurately.

It gives you velocity at impact, (and average velocity for a string of shots), group size with horizontal and vertical measurements and calculates the standard deviation for each string of shots. Shoot it at 10 yard and then at far distance and get the real world ballistic coefficient of your bullet.

It will also eliminate buying targets since all you need is an aiming point anywhere on the backer. You don't have to go down range to paste targets or measure groups since the target doesn't care if there are already holes in the backer.

The disadvantage is that you need to build a solidly mounted target frame to mount the sensors and fix it solidly at the target line which may be difficult at a public range. And, each unit is about $800 so cost becomes a factor.
