The $500 AR that goes for $1500 now will be back down to $500 with no one wanting one even at $500 after this is all over. It happened after 2016, Sandy Hook, Las Vegas.

The one thing you have going for you OP is that you've now experienced at least one side of the cyclical panic. Learn from it and be prepared the next time.

Many of us have been through this cycle MULTIPLE times, especially in Kaliforniastan, my first was 1989. Then 1992, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2008, 2012, 2013, now 2020.

By the summer 2017, Major manufacture had complete AR's for $500, BCG for less than $80, and were offering rebates on .223 ammo ($325 a case).

That's when you start buying, a lot.

You get spare parts, consumables, components, etc. And if you can afford it extras, to sell for extreme (gouging) profit during the next panic.

Just recently, you could sell a PSA lower for $300, BCG for $250, LPK's for $150. Right now used Glock 17's & 19's are going for $900 and small primers for $125.

I used to buy and NEVER sell. I'm now at the point where I can sell and I do.

AFAIK shipments are delayed from outside the US, if not quarantined too on everything, however runs on guns means a run on ammo, always. Just like every other time Democrats exacerbate every situation...

I called a vendor importing my type of ammo with this question and they told me something similar that imports are slowed due to pandemic. I guess it is about transportation and customs processing.

I think one thing we are overlooking is the amount of new guns that have sold. If everyone also bought a couple boxes of ammo - instant shortage.

First, I'm glad that there are more gun owners, even if the reason for that isn't the best (riots and such). People should exercise their Constitutional rights, including those under the 2A.

I remember when you could get small or large pistol primers for less than $20/box, and that wasn't that long ago. Times like that are when you stock up. I've seen bullets on sale at various places for 50% off; same thing. Powder, it seems that's never discounted to that sort of degree, but when it's available at what looks like a decent price, you stock up. Then you're prepared for times like right now.

Why is it happening? Same reason that a bunch of people in the press started asking former news reporter Emily Miller about how to buy a gun after the Charlie Hebdo shooting happened in France. There were folks from the Washington Post (yes, the Washington Post!) asking her, "I wanna buy a gun now, how do you do it?" Funny that, ain't it?

Basically, people buy guns when they think they are at risk of attack and thus want to protect themselves. Even in majority-Democrat areas, some Democrat voters, it seems, may "approve" of the riots in the name of protest, as long as they themselves or their own families don't get caught up in it and put at risk. Thus, they buy guns. Then, ironically, these new gun owners will themselves often vote for gun control shortly thereafter.

I received an email from owner of range where I shoot he was saying due to COVID-19 restrictions ammo manufacturers were only producing half as much as the demand. This could take up to 8 months to get back to normal.
