H110/W296 powders carry a warning to not reduce charges more than 3% from the listed amounts. So, I would not go more than 3% below any listed minimum. That would be about .4 gr.

Thanks... I think 13.9 is the minimum for this bullet weight

15.5gr of H110 using a 158gr bullet is a good, middle of the road load. It's also cleaner burning than using 15.3gr. It's my go to for coated 158gr SWC.

            OP,
.357 Remington Magnums have been notorious flame throwers since their inception in 1935.

OP, two things: pay no attention to post #20, as that one just likes to joust with us here. Harmless. Second thing, do you have any 2400 to try? It's more flexible than H110.

If you have a 6” or longer barrel, I like 2400

2400 is too slow for 4” and shorter barrels.

If shooting lead, I keep them slower to minimize cleaning

If JHP, load 1/2 grain down from max.

I do like to joust with the best.

However in this case, I've never heard any reputable pistol shooter lay claim to experiencing low flash or even moderate flash when
unleashing full pressure .357 Magnums...Unless they were making comparisons with larger bore diameter magnum cartridges.

Perhaps poster penstarter would like to address what ammunition manufacturer developed the pistol cartridge known
as the '.357 Magnum' and in what year. Afterwards we can see who is jousting whom.

I just loaded some 125gr, 146gr and 158 gr bullets with some H110 from 16 to 20gr I'd have to look at my log book to verify what each was but they will be pretty stout fireballs out of my 4" 586

Then maybe you should wait until you do... Unless of course you're fine with getting it wrong the first time around.

If you don't know how good this load shoots in your gun(s), then how would anyone else?

With all due respect, you don't sound like someone who is particularly committed to either safety or achieving the best possible load. If that's the case, maybe consider trading your reloading components to someone that knows what they're doing for some ready-to-shoot factory ammo? With factory ammo, at least you'll have safety on your side..

                          Don't tell penstarter.

After 30 plus years of shooting & reloading for .357, and watching the results of a few other shooters
doing same, never saw, heard, or anyone laying claim to Low Smoke & Low Flash .357s of any kind.

How is GooG & Wiki supposed to know that? They don't venture out to the range. What makes penS think they
have any creditability? Most be a computer thing.

To lower flash, can't a faster burning powder be used instead?

Thanks for your great advice, I went ahead and sold all my reloading gear because some dude on the internet told me to
