Universal clays will work with 200 grain bullets

Hodgon lists data for 200 GR. CAST LSWC with Clays as 3.6 grains for 759 FPS and 4.3 grains for 888 FPS.

The powders you listed are good powders for .45acp, but will either be dirty or leave unburned powder at the pressure you'll be running. If you were closer I'd toss you a pound of clays and you'd be hooked. It's cleaner than 231 or bullseye, much cleaner than unique, green dot, universal clays. Titewad is good, WST also good. Titegroup was just ok for me, as (for me) it didn't meter as well as the other stuff - it's a very dense powder and you don't need much.
A local guy has tested trail boss and been very happy with that one too - in .45acp.

One more vote for Clay's. A much cleaner burning propellent. I'm still working off a jug of 231 but it can clog a 1911 to the point of nonfunction in 500 rounds. Otherwise it works well. I can't see how anyone shoots IPSC with a 45 except in single stack division. IDPA has a division for 45 and for that alone I commend them, tactical reloading nonsense and all.

Nope, never noticed. I never shoot more than 200rds per session and I always clean it everytime. These are also hard cast. I wouldn't shoot it indoors though as it gets really smokey.

Another Option

HP38 is WIN231, if you can't find 231, look for some HP38. HP38 is usually less expensive also.
Even better is Ramshot Competition in .45ACP. I've been using HP38/231 in my .45ACP for years and have now switched to the Ramshot Competition.

4g under a 225g LRN is my revolver load.
5.1g under a 185JHP is my Single Stack load.
Very good loads.
