Looking for a load to use with events.
Win lg pistol Primer.
Need help picking a good lead RN bullet and options for powder and charge.
Looking for optional loads given what powder I can get hold of.

Any 200gr LRN/Plated TC/etc.. 5.5grs W231, any LP primer load to 1.250-1.265"OAL

Easily makes Major PF and still shoots soft.

I am just getting back into this type of shooting, did some 25 years ago so basicly starting from scratch.
Shooting pretty much a stock SA Loaded with mag port adaptor, sights changed to XS sights and slide stop and amb safety change.
Feeds just about anything I throw at it.

Could I use say the speer manual under the 200gr LRN for another powder?
I assume that a 200gr LRN is the same no matter who makes it, with respect to powder loads?

OK, so you'll either be shooting Limited 10 or Single Stack (Major PF). My latest major load is 200gr plated RN over 4.8gr Titegroup, WLP Primers and mixed brass. Before that, I used 200gr LSWC (H&G 68) over 5.5gr 231, WLP Primers and mixed brass. Both of these make major through both my Glock 21 and all of my 1911's but of course you need to try a batch and chrono them through your own gun.

200 RN lead/plated lead should use the same data; the only exception I know of is the 200 RN/HB (round nose, hollow base) which has a bit different in case volume because it is hollowed out a bit.

I use a Bear Creek 200 gr SWC, WLP, 4.1 gr of Titewad, 1.230 OAL. This is an old load from the 90's. It still works with a 15# spring. I have a friend who uses 4 gr of Clays. It is a soft shooter also. At the club level matches you will probably never have to chrono a load. If you have a chance, check it though. Good luck.

What powder do you have or have available? That would make it easier.

W231 has always been available for me.

Titwad will give you 1400 loads per container. It is shotgun powder, but as I learned a lot of shotgun powders make good pistol powders. Check on the burn chart. You will see Titewad is right up at the top.

when I shot USPSA I used a para and my load was 200 gr lead semi wad cutter. I also used lead round nose sometimes. For powder I used Winchester super target and Winchester 231.

Sorry, can't remember the grainage, main point of post was that super target is also a possible powder for you.

As always, mileage may very and double check your reloading manual before using a powder.

Lots of info guys, appreciate it.
I have mixed powders now, unique, unv clays, green dot and mixed rifle powders.
I tried to find some titegroup yesterday but no luck.
Seems everbody has experience with W231 so that's what I need to find.
Any thoughts on good lead bullet suppliers?
There seems to be a lot of them out there touting "the best".
Don't own a chrono, maybe it's time.. what is an economical that you can recommend?

I have been able to find Titewad everywhere I go shopping. It is an older powder, and shotgun powder. It works well.
