Help Me Understand this 9mm Case

I picked this up last time I was at the range. There were several just like it. You can see the neck is belled very wide. Almost appears like they loaded a .40 cal bullet in a 9mm case.

9 mm round shot in a 40 ? Has happened before
Bweise says "I have to say the situation was not at all helped by 22 yr old former Airsoft douches who kept touting here, "But possession is not illegal!" "

OK... that's what I was thinking but wasn't sure. I've heard of this happening but have never seen it myself. I'm surprised by how much the case mouth blew out.

I found a few like that at the range. I'll bet the dude couldn't understand why he could never hit the target.

LOL. That reminds of last year at a USPSA match. We had this new guy on our squad. First time shooting USPSA. Wouldn't stop talking and that's a lot to say from this "Chatty Cathy". Anyway, he litterally could not go more than a couple of targets arrays without a serious malfunction. Third stage, he swaps guns. Same deal.

So about 5 stages into the match, he realized he had accidentally swapped slides on the Sigs he was shooting. This wasn't until after he had torn one of them down and he couldn't figure out how to reassemble it. So he had put 40 cal slides on 9mm frames. Poor guy. Never saw him back at another match.

Similarly, the .357 Sig also can be shot in a .40S&W barrel with poor results.

9mm major, I see a few of these at ranges that host USPSA. 9 major does not love tired brass.

Maybe they fire the 9mm in different caliber weapon.

My CW9 used to do that every hundred rounds or so with new factory ammo. Got rid of that heavy triggered dog and got a Sig.

For fun, during the last shortage, and because .380 shooters NEVER pick up their brass, I accidentally loaded a FEW .380 cases with 9mm loads and projectiles.

I shot them, and it does work, with the same projectile diameter.
They don't always cycle, and ruins the case in my M9, but seemed to fire true, and would work in a pinch... with my M9.

I also loaded some of the lighter PLATED 90gr, I think it was, .380 projectiles in 9mm cases as that was all that was around, and no problems with a higher-end 9mm load (not @max).
