Where did someone mention "negative headspace"?

There is no end.
A reloader claims he has negative head space, there is a chance he does not know better but someone on two pages of responses should be smart enough to get close when answering the question.

Yes.
It's not uncommon for guns to be made shorter than the standard GO gauge dimension.
So if the chamber is shorter than the MINIMUM length, it's said to have a short chamber.
With less than minimum chamber length, the bolt will not close properly on maximum length ammo.
Case needs more sizing.

I set the tension on my banjo head using Newton's and the spring tension on my valve springs in pounds.
I have a tensioned barrel gun but as there is no such thing as tensions does that mean it is illegal?

I purchased a few barrels from MIDWAY USA with the understanding the barrels were short chambered. And then I wasted my time asking them "How short?". The person I asked must have had the feeling he had to say something so he said the chambers were short by .020" +/- a few.

The barrels arrived and I started measuring, the 270 Winchester barrel was short by .250". I have no ideal what that would mean to you but I did not bargain on a barrel with that short of a chamber.

I would have been happy with a barrel that had a .015" short chamber if for no other reason my reamers last longer when reaming short chambers. The .250" short chamber is the equivalent to reaming close to 20 .015" short chambers.

They claimed they have never heard of someone measuring the length of a short chamber and they wanted to know what I used to measure the chamber with. If at the time there was such a thing as negative head space I would have told them I used a negative head space gage.

I know I risk overloading members with a question about chamber length; the next question was going to be about measuring chamber length three different ways without a head space gage; remember, Midway wanted to know how I measured the short chamber, they did not know head space gages were available in that short of a length.

Sounds like someone here doesn't know how to properly measure a chamber as he never gets the correct fit.
They sell roughing Reamers to anyone so you don't dull your finish reamer removing too much material.
