    Stupid reloader

I was reloading 45 ACPs in batches on a turret press. I finished sizing and flaring a container. Then I saw another container that was wet tumbled but not deprimed. So i start de-priming, sizing and flaring those. The first one I did, I checked to see if it was small or large primer. I was surprised how well the wet tumble had cleaned the primer hole, despite the primer still being in it. After doing about 25, I realized that the primers were not spent. Stupid me, I was re-doing newly primed cases that were ready for powder. I knew this was not the right time to be reloading and stopped for the day.

            Once I open a beer...

            No reloading

No working with sharp tools (table saw, router, etc.)

            And most importantly, no flying.

If you're distracted for any reason, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING!!! Doing any of the above while even very slightly impaired is asking for trouble.

When I think back over all the stupid mistakes I've made over 40 years of reloading, I'm amazed that I have all ten fingers and both eyes.

Yea, nothing to beat yourself up over. Its only 25 cases. Having a beverage while reloading is not that big of a deal. Just don't reload high or impaired. And, double check that work at every stage.

                      .02-.03c a primer *.25 is .50-..75c.

How many total primers are you out, having possibly nulled the primers via a tumble?

I thought that too, then realized that he meant that he sorts his brass into containers (probably tupperware) so each container had batches of brass in various states of preparation. He saw a container full of brass and thought it was ready for depriming, then later noticed that it actually contained already reprimed brass.

At first I thought he wasn't a native English speaker and meant "brass case" when he said "container" as well. Then I figured out what he meant.

Did that once. I try to de prime soon after coming back from the range now. If I don't they usually stay in a 5 gal bucket in the garage until I do. I use a hand de primer before I wet tumble.

Wait till you run 9mm thru a sizing die instead of the factory crimp.

Rangemaster came over to ask about why half my rounds had keyholed

My favorite is the result of getting a 357 mixed in with 38spl and running it into the flare station.
