    First time casting

    Thought I would try this out.

    Lee 20lbs bottom pour
    Lee 6 hole .312 160gr tumble lube

      They drop at .312 so I will powder coat them and leave them plain based and shoot those in my mosin. The one pictured is sized to .311 gas checked and will be shot in my x39 AR.

          I did have to cull some. for the most part they turned like the one pictured.

            Those are good looking bullets. I had great luck my first time casting and powder coating, and now that is the majority of what I shoot.
            I still load jacketed, but at a 1:50 ratio.

            Things that have improved my casting results are:
            PID for lead pot
            Hotplate to pre heat molds and ingots
            Pyrometer to check mold temp
            Buying molds from MP
            Using good powder coat powder (smokes, Eastwood, powder by the pound)

                        buying lead at $1 lb for me cost of a 185g 45acp is about 4 cents each

                              molds $100

                              Pot $75 with PID

                              $80 -in tin and antimony

                              1k lbs in pure sheet lead ---free

                              600 160gr bullets=14lbs of alloy=2-3 -cents a bullet.
