    RE: Case Lube

I know, I know...Should have known better.. They were working sooo well lubing one in five. Then I got a few tight ones (Mil-Brass). I'm a lot more careful now. .223's aren't nearly as tough as -06. And Winchester 7.62x39.... I don't even want to go there. Have to champher the inside of the necks, or they'll fold up like an accordian.

I've stuck a few cases in dies and even in a chamber once. Here is what I did...

      1. Drill out the rear of the case as much as you can without hitting the walls of the case or rim.

      2. Use a bolt remover in a wrench or drill. Push hard into the case and go slow, you don't want to spin your tires and strip it out.

Discounting that week back in 2000 when I tried One Shot (and stuck two cases), I've I never had a stuck case. I use Imperial Case Wax.
Actually, I got him a case extractor among other things... so he wouldn't have to use mine.

I too moved to Imp Case Wax when I stuck a case for the second time in a Redding die. Redding tech suggested it (they now make / sell it), along with the case extractor.

Unfortunately, it's time consuming to use and I still use spray lube on my .223 when I'm loading more than 50-100 at a time. Using the "it's too snug going in so STOP" technique, I've not had any more stuck cases.

Here's an update. Just got back from vacation to find my die in my mailbox. Case was removed, die was ultrasonically cleaned and came with a trial size tin of Imperial Sizing Wax naturally.

Finally I can try out my batch of new Hornady cases

I've had good results with Dillon caselube. I put my cases in a big ziplock bag with a few squirts of caselube. I seal the bag and massage for a couple minutes. I then dump them out on a tray and LET THEM DRY. Giving the solvent time to evaporate is important. Then I resize them. Never had a stuck case doing it that way. If you try and resize them wet (fresh from the bag) the case will stick.

I'm just too lazy to lube one at a time.

That's what I was doing except with Lyman spray on lube. Ziplock + spray into the bag + tumble/roll around and then dump into a cardboard box to dry for several minutes.

I stuck the 17th case I was resizing out of 50

I have all of the materials I need to make that homebrew lanolin/alcohol case lube. I'm probably going to mix that up soon. It's so cheap that I won't feel the need to skimp like I sometimes do with the aerosol stuff.

Going back to the "one at a time with me fingers" technique just doesn't seem like an option to me.

It doesn't add a lot of time and you'll never stick one again.

$6 + 3 weeks is far cheaper than $55+ for another Redding Type-S .308 bushing die (if you can even find it). I had my .223's to keep me company during the hiatus

I've got some cases to prep before my Chargemaster comes in later this week!

Don't forget the 1" length of McDonald's drinking straw for the Chargemaster dispenser tube.

I added that this weekend after reading about it on the Interwebs. It increased the throw accuracy quite a bit by preventing the powder from accumulating at the end of the tube.
