Asking for load recommendations for Springfield M1A1

Hello, I was just looking for some load recommendations for a Springfield M1A1 with a 22" barrel. The rifle and loading 308 is new for me. I do load 30-06 for M1 Garande. I plan having fun with it, shooting paper at 25 to 100 yards.

    Thank you,

    Jay

I have no excuse, I own it. By no ones fault, but my own I wrote M1A1 for my M1A. Being totally honest I was thrilled and excited to get this rifle that I actually thought (incorrectly) that the correct name of the rifle was M1A1. Why would I think that when all the paper work said M1A? Like I said I have no excuse other than a moment of ignorance on my part. If this all was not bad enough I did also misspell Garand. I would love to blame my computer, but it was probably all me.

The punishment for this is in the original title for this post. Everyone will read it and think its for a M1A1 and not a M1A.

I apologize for my stupidity, I promise I am not usually this dumb; However, the wife may disagree.

Cant recommend anything for a 3miliion dollar vehicle,so assuming loading for the M1A I would recommend a medium burn rate powder like IMR4064,4895,Varget.
Bullets should be in the range of 125gr-175.
For primers just about anything, except Federal.

^^No worries. Here's another cg thread on loads for an M1A:

Is your Garande french or spanish?
              Tire kickers gonna kick,

I think the Garande is Italian, the crate it came in was marked "Fragile".

I do appreciate the information, but the link when opened says "Sorry No matches" Just curious if its still good or old.

                    Thank you

It is a Standard M1A, Walnut stock. I did not upgrade to any of the Match grades. I have a 1903 made in 1917, I have two Garand's (1942 and 1951), I wanted to get a standard to be as close to a M14 as I could get. If I could find out the standard infantry rifle that the 1903 replaced, I would try to buy one of those.

The 1903 replaced the Krag. There, I spent some of your money. HA!

The Hornady book has service rifle loads. I’d look into those and not use bolt gun loads. Likely whatever powder, primers and bullets you have for the Garand will do well in your M1A.

Lube that standard up and shoot it. Maybe for a cheap upgrade put in a Sadlak NM spring guide, it’ll smoothen up the action for $50.

41.5 grains of H4895, Winchester LRP, 168gr Sierra MatchKing. Good to at least 600 yards.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!
