    You should be using a single stage press as a new handloader, that way you're already familiar with proper die setup when you begin using a progressive.

        There is a jam screw on the left side below the shell plate that puts tension on it. If it's too tight, the shell plate will be inhibited from rotating correctly, and you might even break the ring indexer.

          Did you ever loosen the two screws that hold the platform to the top of the ram?
          If you did, you need the alignment tool from Dillon to locate the platform while you tighten those screws.
          That aligns the dies with the shellplate.

            The shell plate is indexed by the ball bearing detent below.

            When the bolt that holds the shell plate down is over torqued, the shell plate won’t index properly.

            Other things that can prevent indexing is dirt/powder in shell plate or primer feeder and primer stuck in feeder plate.

              The detent lives in the platform.
              If the platform is misaligned, the shellplate is also misaligned.
              This is regardless of If the shellplate moves freely or not.
