I need to learn about Ammo

I have been a Firearm owner at least 40 years and I have never taken the time to learn about Ammo, and the way and reason for one over the other.
Is there a book available like "Ammo for Dummies" somewhere?

Do you mean about reloading? There's a magazine (hope it's still around) called guns and ammo.

What are your questions on ammo, maybe we can direct you to a better source.

Where are you located? That could help someone near you to help you personally. Or a couple of people to get different opinions.
Also for what purpose would the ammo/bullets be used? That would help because there are different types of bullets for different uses.

Might want to pick up a copy of 'The A B C's of Reloading'. Or just pick up and read a reloading manual, usually there is an introductory section that explains many do's and don'ts.
It's a place to start anyway.

Ammo is an assembly of a projectile, propellant, case and primer. Projectiles come in different shapes. Propellants come in different burning rates. Primers come in different strengths. Cases come with different internal volumes. Aksk a specific question.

So you've owned firearms for 40 years but never shot any of them.

Listen to Divernhunter or justMike, or Sig so Sour, they are trying to help. They represent the best of Calguns. Some others (thankfully few) are just d1cks.

Yes to ABCs of Reloading as well as reading about exterior ballistics.

                            Ah.. Someone who cares.
I have to say that some of you are Pretty F'n Funny.
Now where was I. Yes I have used my Guns.
What I would like to know are things like Parabolic, Full Metal Jacket, Grains-why.
Plus, 6.8 s coming back soon. I invested in that R&D@12 years ago. and it is looking good. The US Military has decided to change over to 6.8.
Anyway, what about the Ammo Info?

ABCs of Reloading is suggested not for the reloading but because there is significant coverage of the how and why of various components and a bit about exterior ballistics.

You will never find what you are looking for with being very specific in your questions.

Ammo is a huge and highly technical subject so you need to be much more specific about the areas of interest.
