I wonder if something like Hoppes copper solvent could slowly eat away the case. I've noticed that my brass cleaning brushes tend to get smaller and smaller (partly from just being used to clean out a steel rifled barrel) when I use solvent on them to clean out barrels. Again, it might just be the scrubbing action of a brass brush against a steel barrel, or it might be copper solvent actually eating away the brush.==================

Brass is made of copper and zinc.I wonder if something like Hoppes copper solvent could slowly eat away the case. So if you are using a copper solvent, it is also attacking the brass bristles of the brushes.Randall Rausch

I have a barrel cleaning process I use that is different than methods and or techniques used by smiths and reloaders. I had two dumpsters full of material that I could not hide so I had to learn to use the material.I wonder if something like Hoppes copper solvent could slowly eat away the case. I've noticed that my brass cleaning brushes tend to get smaller and smaller (partly from just being used to clean out a steel rifled barrel) when I use solvent on them to clean out barrels. reloaders and smiths spend a lot of time talking about the cleaning rod rubbing the muzzle and then there is the snake pull-through getting stuck. Anyhow I put some stuff together, the system is impossible to lock up, jam up.
I do believe I have two life times of material; I did consider if it was possible to replace the material should I run out. It was about that time my wife informed I have two machines in among all my junk that was designed to put the material together; with her help.

no and that's the problem.

Yet he refuse to speak in a coherent sentence let alone try to educate anyone. So as far as I'm concerned the guy is worse than useless as he is merely sucking up good oxygen and bandwidth.

I have cleaned cases with acids that had a limit on time when soaking. If I answered the door or stopped to answer the phone the cases were rendered scarp. After the soak the work began, two soaks in boiling water, the process was called 'pickling', during the soaks the cases turned black.I wonder if something like Hoppes copper solvent could slowly eat away the case. I've noticed that my brass cleaning brushes tend to get smaller and smaller (partly from just being used to clean out a steel rifled barrel) when I use solvent on them to clean out barrels. Again, it might just be the scrubbing action of a brass brush against a steel barrel, or it might be copper solvent actually eating away the brush.
And then? I went to vinegar, again, vinegar has a time line, I set the maximum for time in 5% vinegar at 15 minutes. After 15 minutes the cases turned pink or orange etc.
I know, reloaders get real giggly about liquid cleaning, I use liquid like vinegar to cut down on tumbling time. On the worst of cases I can reduce tumbling time by 5 days if I clean the worst of cases in 5% vinegar for 15 minutes; the enemy of the residual effects of acid on the case can cause problems reloaders did not know they had.
Interpret: I make patches for barrel cleaning, I have used them on barrels reloaders and smiths thought were spotlessly clean, the only compliment?
A dealer that has made a living dealing in gun cleaning equipment said after a demonstration; "I be damned".
