Reloading 9mm Blazer brass

I read somewhere there are problems reloading 9mm Blazer brass. But they didn't say what the trouble was.

Anyone know of any such problems?

Blazer brass is good stuff, I’ve had great luck with it.
Some say it’s a bit thinner than some of the others.
CBC is thicker, S&B has tight pockets.

That’s the first I heard about problem with Blazer. Never have any issue with it. The ones I have has been loaded numerous times at normal pressure.

Maybe it was actually 45 acp? Because the only "problem" with it is that it's a small pistol primer instead of the more popular large pistol primer with 45s

Blazer Brass in 45acp is the suck. I had to sift a couple of hundred cases out of my five gallon bucket of prepped brass. Took an entire vacation day, my eyes are too old for this carp.


All of the cases were dished in around the primer hole. Like a small bowl.

I have at least a thousand brass cases of large primer 45 ACP Blazer Brass
Some are on at least there 5th loading of mild-moderate 45 ACP loads. I use this for the range. No problems.
This brass was previously purchased by as new factory ammo and now I reload for 45 ACP
The heads of the cases have three distinct shapes and stamps in the lots I have (all purchased in a 3- 4 year period early to mid 2000 range).
No split case mouths, no loose pockets so far.
For a while the brass came from the factory with a depressed area around the primer pocket, that was their early brass, Then it seemed to change to a typical flat case head. I have both and both have worked fine for my purposes.
I only use new brass from Starline for really hot loads.

Keep in mind the +P and +P+ brass is no different in dimension or strength, it is just marked so you know how hot it is loaded from the factory.

Whew, I'm glad to hear it because I have a buttload of new ammo and planned on reloading it.

The bit I read about the brass was on 9mm, not .45 brass.

Not all Blazer brass is SPP & not all SPP is Blazer brass. Seems everybody has a variant now...

Save the SPP brass. It'll come in habndy when we have another shortage of LPP.
