350 legend?

The new American Rifleman mag has a feature on this new straight cased Winchester round. It's quite a hard hitter designed for large deer, Elk, etc. Effective range is 250 yards so it's like a small brother to the .450 Bushmaster.

Tapered case rounds are apparently illegal for hunting in some places (maybe here soon) so this was developed. It was made from .223 specs so it adapts to a standard AR-15 BCG, you need a new barrel and mag to run it. Ammo costs are also lower than .450.

Winchester has a XPR rifle in that caliber as does CMMG in the AR format. That 300 Resolute rifle lists for only $1549. They also sell uppers and barrels.

I was intrigued as usual with a new AR caliber. I ordered a 350 Legend upper from Delta Team tactical for $204 shipped. Brownells has the ammo so I guess I need to get that and the 10 round special mag for it.

When I shoot it I'll report back. Anyone else have a 350 Legend?

I have some points in Iowa. I was thinking about it because they’re now allowing straight wall cartridges BUT apparently Iowa has held it up because the bullet measures .355 vs the .357 which is the minimum by their laws. It’s silly but we all know how unreasonable state bureaucracies can be

So this round seems to exist only as a solution to the stupidity of governmental dictates; much like bullet buttons, fin grips, mag latches, and all the other buffoonery that Kali has forced gun owners to dance with.
With all the multitude of AR chamberings, it will be interesting to see if it survives. Makes me think of the WSM's and all that hoopla.

So, a straight walled .35 Remington with an OAL that fits in an AR-15? That's not niche or anything.

The lower cost of the 350 round is one reason it may become popular. Winchester has them for around 50/60 cents per round. All I need is to find some ammo and a Legend mag to hold them. If Hornady makes them they will stay around.

Good timing as I used the last mass shootings by buying another lower.

Target Sports USA sells Winchester Legend 350 FMJ for 50 cents per round. A 200 round case is $99 with free shipping. CMMG sells 10 round Legend mags for $17.95. The whole kit should be here in a week.

So far reports on that ammo is good, 2 moa at 200 yards from some users. Recoil is also light. I always wanted big bullet AR for seeing the larger holes.

The data I saw listed it as .357 diameter bullets.

Compare it to the .357 Max , or 35 Whelan ( 30/06 necked up to 35 cal).

Both got it beat as to performance .

It is an answer to a question never asked in this part of the nation. It also does not meet the regs for some states that require straight walled cartridges for hunting.

It probably will be a big hit with those that have to have the latest and greatest(?) things.

Wasn't there a 351SLR or something like that cartridge years ago that is now never seen.
