BTW, the correct way to test the accuracy you need is to segregate the rounds you have by charge weight and see if they make a difference in velocity.

Borrow a scale that goes to 0.02, or 0.01, or however far down you want to go.

Mark each case for each powder charge. the entire group could be within 0.1 gr if you fancy.

When you get back from the range, put the data in excel and plot weight on the X-axis and velocity on the Y axis. If you have a clear trend line within that .1 grain spread, then YES you will benefit from throwing charges accurate to 0.02 gr. If you need that level of accuracy in velocity. Some do.

If your plot looks random, then 0.1 gr accuracy will give you the same results as 0.02gr accuracy. Actually, if you used a drug dealer scale at 0.2gr accuracy, you might find no benefit to velocity.

The point is, you don;t track it with SD, you track it with straight up velocity, and put a trendline on it in excel. If the R squared value sucks, you don't benefit going down to that level.

20 rounds would be more than enough for this test.
