.308 range ammo/reloading

When I started reloading (7yrs ago) I was just trying to save money on ammo. Your not going to save nothing, your actually going to be spending more.

...because you are shooting so much more due to the reduced cost per round.

I live in LA so there's really no wide open land that some are fortunate enough to shoot on so im kiiiind of stuck with the indoor ranges.

I haven't. I haven't been much of anywhere to shoot. Long hours at work. I hear a lot about it though and a club in Burbank but there's no openings

The Burbank club's range is located another 1/2hr past Angeles.

If you just want to feel recoil, buy the cheapest crappiest steel cased ammo.
It will make noise and create recoil and wear your barrel.

Cmon now. Don't be sarcastic for no reason. I thought there might be a big savings on making your own ammo. It's real simple and im sure im not the only one who thought about that when it comes to making your own ammo.

You know of private property you can shoot on that's not necessarily a range but shooting is allowed? Open land

There IS big savings of you are comparing EQUAL QUALITY AMMO.
There is little to no savings if you are comparing to the cheapest crappiest ammo you can buy.

You can load match ammo for around 50 cents per round that would cost you $1.50 a round to buy.

You could load some 110gr m1carbine bullets over a a shotgun or handgun powder for 25yd plinking ammo for around 20 cents per round, but those types of loads will not function an autoloader and should not be attempted by novice reloaders due to detonation concerns.

If you're antsy to shoot your gun (I don't blame you), then why bother with the boresighter on your other thread? Shoot it at paper at 5 yds, adjust, shoot it at 10 yards, adjust, repeat at 25yds...

As for ranges in LA, have you considered Angeles? You can stretch out to 600 yds there.

Finally, one thing about reloading is that it changes your perspective on numbers. A non-reloader will think about buying 100, 250 rounds at a time. A reloader will buy 1000 projectiles at a time, or 32 lbs of powder & add a few thousand primers to max out their hazmat costs. It's basically going from convenience store quantities to Costco quantities.

All I can say is show some respect for Randall. That guy has provided more of a value to this site than nearly anyone else.

Second you need to stop thinking about what your hobby costs, just buy what you need. Screw the cost and have fun pure and simple.

Naw, you got it wrong! I really meant it ("you know everything"). I wasnt being sarcastic and he's responded to every post with knowledge unlike a lot people. I appreciate everything he's told me.

Aside from that dont tell another grown man what they need to do. We dont play that around here where im from.

I know but initially i wasnt being a jerk. I addressed it in the post before yours. I really meant he knows everything. Or at least it seems like it to me. That's not saying much Because i know nothing lol

Just a thought. If all you want is blasting ammo you might want to consider surplus military powder. You can find new WC846, which is the equivalent to BL-C(2), for about $110/8#. So, with shipping and hazmat, that figures out to about .10/Rd. Becomes a bit cheaper the more you buy.
That's what the military uses in their General Purpose .308/7.62x51 ammo.

well,,, reading between the lines, if you don't have the time to travel to an outdoor range , you probably won't have the time to reload.
