Yup, I've cast tens of thousands of bullets but, in the last few years, I've been able to purchase bullets so cheap that I haven't been casting.

I cast a ton of bullets a few years ago. Made enough in the short span to last me until now.

I just ran out of my .357 supply and I'm looking for a new mould for my .45 and 22 hornet.

I have been casting for some time. I cast mostly handgun. My 223 22-250 and some others get jacketed. What calibers are you interested in casting. there is a ton of info on the castboolits web site.

I cast about a dozen calibers, slugs and buckshot. When the state of Ca banned lead wheel weights I ended up with five or six hundred lbs somehow. I'm still working my way through that stash.

If you know any old shooting spots berm mining is a good way to score free lead.

I’m setup to cast 38/357 plinking ammo. A round costs me about $0.08 each to reload. I’m a very frugal caster. I use Lee aluminum dies and an old Ideal lead pot that was given to me. My lead supply is scrounged. I have pure lead, Linotype, wheel weights and scrap solder.

                I cast lead boolits!
It is an other hobbie in it's self.

I shoot at least weekly. If I did not cast, I could not shoot that often.

You can start on the cheap, and very good boolits.

What do you need to know?

                  Casting bullets

I have been casting bullets for a long time, I find it fun and I have the ability to make what I want or need without having to buy bullets, lead is still available, I have been able to score lots of lead by always being on the lookout for a deal, you might want to go to Castboolits.com there is lots of info there for the asking! I cast both rifle and pistol bullets.

I've been casting for several years now. It can be expensive to accumulate all the molds and equipment. I get most of my lead from my LGS for one dollar a pound and scrounging around. Try Ebay for used items that look in great condition. It has taken a couple of years but I now have just about every thing I need for all my casting needs. I recently invested($$$$) in equipment to swage jacketed bullets. I can now make .224 bullets from empty .22lr brass and .40 S&W bullets from 9mm brass. Good luck and buy wisely.

I haven't been shooting a lot of .45acp in the last few years and I have a decent stock of 230 grain plated bullets right now. I'll start casting again before paying $50/500 for either cast or plated bullets. Until then, I'll keep looking for good deals and sales.

I'm picking up an old hornet with a .223 bore, so I'm trying to stay in the 46 gr range.

I'm looking at the NOE 225-46-WFN

Can you cast spent full metal jacket?
I find **** loads of spent lead at my outdoor range. Much of it obviously home cast stuff but lots of full metal jacket stuff too. Will the copper just melt away? if so, does it separate, float to the top or become slag you can remove or does it become an alloy with the lead?

Copper has a much higher melting point. The lead will melt out and the copper jacket will float on top
