I use almost the exact load with 165 gr Hornady Interbond for thick skinned game and SST for thin skinned game.

Mixed brass, 57gr IMR4350 CCI LRP, 3.25 AOL. It gives me around 2910fps and groups .75 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards...out of 1954 Winchester 70.

I've taken a ton of game with that load..

You're the only one that mentioned anything about hunting.

Again my point is you confirmed the 46 grain load of IMR 4895 that is a starting load from the Lyman manual, it's also my Garand load and is cutting the 06 off at the knees. your quoted 50 grains of 4895 in M@ ball is impossible as that load would push a 168gr to over 2800 fps and would not be safe in a Garand, I don't know what powder charge they used but my LC match 06 ammo runs runs right at 2650 fps.

As to accuracy and speed, yes speed can't make up of a lack of accuracy but if you can find a accurate load closer to the max speed then your time of flight is reduced, that equals less time for the wind to act upon it and your sights require less input to get them there and in most cases due to the higher RPMS your bullet is more stable.

You do as you like but the guy asked for load data on an 06 in a modern bolt rifle and you offered up 1940's semiauto loads. the 06 is far more capable than that. Now if he chooses to load it mild for recoil control of a tame shoulder, or whatever thats his business but lets give hime the right tools to use

The M72 match ammo was issued to competitors at the National Matches. That 48 grains of IMR 4895 is based on different powder lots of IMR 4895 that were blended in order to get to the target velocity of 2640-2650.

Same with the M2 ball with the 150 grain bullet, IIRC, M2 ball has a target velocity of about 2700.
