Like every other gunowner/shooter I know there's a run on guns, ammo and reloading supplies. But there seems to be an extra hardship finding primers. Is there a logical reason I'm not aware of ? Is it a sinister plot by the anti-gun crowd ? Any word from knowledgeable sources when/if supplies will return?

I think they are more difficult to buy in quantity and people run out of those before the 8 lb jug of their go-to powder. It also seems like the first component that would be restricted buy a hostile legislature.
Secondly, people are stupid. There were pallets of primers at the gun show today. Your neighborhood gun store gets the primers from the same place you do. If you can make the effort to go get them, you have an advantage that the store likely may not be willing to do. mail order may be a bit cheaper (usually not with hazmat and shipping), but when you find what you want for reasonable pricing, I'd choose the local buy.Comment

I think primers are hard to find cause they are cheap to buy and seem to be what I always run out of. not to mention the fact that they need them for military arms.
I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.Comment

Primers are trickling into the local Sporting Good stores in small batches.
My local one has all but large pistol. They had nothing the week prior.
They even have small caliber ammo such as .380 auto that is scarce in the
big cities."I kill things for a living, don't make yourself one of them"Comment

Chief Bought Everything
There aren't any Primers in Arizona either. The guy at the store said it was some Mexican looking guy from Kalifornia. San Diego I think he said. Sounds like Chief. If there's a fire at his place I'll see it here in Yuma
I won't be wronged
I won't be insulted
And I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.....John WayneComment

Manufacturers aren't producing them at the rate at which they are being bought. Also, I suppose that if I was in the ammo, components manufacturing bsuiness I would wait to see if there were any laws which might be coming around regarding ammo sales/manufacturing/etc. untill I committed on producing a large amount.Comment
