Good price, great design and innovation.

I do not see any single stage press that beats the Lee Classic Cast.

I kind of fell the same . I have 6 nephews and 2 nieces
that reload here . They would rather buy another gun that a
reloading set up . Between the 7 of us we do 15 calibers . If
you just figure 2 calibers each , you can buy another gun
        instead .
We were saving [ me and 3 nephews ] for another loadmaster
but then California went the assault rifle B S and they emptied
the kitty . [ Brass coke cans and water bottles . ]
Now figure my wife likes them coming here to reload , so she
        cooks for them .
Then you get the parents involved .

        I have had the 30 carbine , 270 and 30/30 cartridges come
apart and powder everywhere . The 30-06 and 243 never did .
When I reload , I put in plastic boxes and filling all the
        magazines .
My nephews will some times just put in ammo can .
About every 1 gets the plunk test [ we use the lee hand
loader . Weither it is me / us if we don't use the crimp die
some cases fail . We also use range brass and if brass is over
sized / what ever - it gets crimped . The load master has 5
die holes , so why not throw a crimping die in last one .
The same when doing pistol cases .
Mostly the 45 ACP 44 and 50 AE had had bad cases , but I
do all from the 25 ACP up .
I just do jacketed , so no crimp rings .
I started reloading in early '70s so a lot of what I do is
probably not needed - but I still use hand signals when
        turning .

are you using a neck sizing die or just the crimp die to size?

to shoot cartridges in the same bolt action rifle you only need to neck size, but that sizes the entire neck down as low as the bullet seats if adjusted correctly on a cartridge that headspaces on the shoulder.

The crimp die usually just a does a little but at the mouth of eth case, not the neck. Neck tension is enough to retain most rifle bullets if sized properly- regardless of the brand of dies. That is not Lee specific

to shoot cartridges in a semi-auto or just different bolt/lever/etc rifles you full length resize the brass case (does body and neck).

I use the Lee decapping pin [ not universal ] then the Lee crimping .
I decap by hand so the 1st thing the press does is on pistol cases is
            size .
On bottle necks - 1st is the Lee universal decapping die . Next is
            sizing
            - then vibrator / tumbler or sonic for cleaning . [ depends on what
            else is being used ]
Why some of them are to wide / open I really don't care .
We do pick up range brass - 223 and 308 are semi autos , the 243 ,
            30 carbine , 270 , 3030 and 30-06 are bolt .
Everything is at least run thru crimping die , most are probably not
crimped , but if they need it the die is there .

Wow! In the last couple of days, I have read on two other shooting sites regarding Lee anything. Mostly their FCD. Gadz, the love it or hate back and forth is almost comical. Come over here to calguns, same story. I have/use three of their crimping dies, 2 for pistol, 1 for my 30-30. No problems for me using 'em. I believe all my other gear is RCBS; bought the Rock Chukar in '78, then dies and whatnot when needed. All made here, including my 10-10 ohaus scale. When I say 3 crimping dies, I'm talking Lee. Or is that typing? Good day.

I have had 2 problems with Lee .
The 1st was back in the 70's . I wanted a carbide die for the
50 AE . By the time I got enough overtime to cover it , they discontinued them . [ They were a single special order batch ]
The next was I needed to replace my Lee hand loader - the
25 ACP was discontinued [ my nephew loaned it out and guy
                moved out of state ]
I have tried to order from other companies various things
figuring to upgrade . Lots of out of stock , we don't carry / sell
that . While I have other companies " stuff ' - it was either given
to me or was part of a deal .

Very interesting post here. I have a Dillon 650. 9mm 90% of the use. 45, 38 spcl , 357, and 44mag on occasions. I ordered super 1050, going to use it for 9mm only right now. I'll use the 650 for 556/223, and I also bought rock chucker Supreme for the 44, 357, and 45. Haven't mounted the rock chucker yet. I like Dillon, but it's not a to die for press. Used Lee and Hornady in the past. They all seem to get the ammo loaded, so what ever floats your boat. Neighbor was just gifted a single stage and ask the goodies. And me about it. I said, it loads ammo you save money, your retired, I'm retired we got time kick back and load. Why the 1050. I have a lot of family I load for, so batch load 9mm a lot.

I just make them buy there stuff, primers, bullets, powder etc. The best loader for a shooter, is the one he likes, and has a good time loading. Then you go online forums and if your new, you ask questions, if your seasoned you give answers. I had fun loading in my Lee Hornady, and old rock chucker I sold.

I'm not brand specific. I've got a bunch of everything.

I like the Lee Classic turret a lot. It's slow, has some design issues with their strange primer system, but for me and pistol rounds, it's great and inexpensive. The turret can be changed from one caliber to another in a minute or so. That is awesome.

I never understood why they make the non-classic turret. It's a POS, flips spent primers all over and is not near the quality of the Classic.

                            I really like the dies.

                            .
