I did this years ago with the early 50s Yugo-surplus 8mm. The cases were brittle and would get an occasional gas vent.

So I pulled the bullets, measured the powder charge and checked if the powder is the same for the lot (all were). Reloaded with PPU brass with Fed 210.

A lot of work but it shot/grouped better than the surplus
By my read these aren't compromised cases.

I'd want at least want to check case capacity. Steel cases may be thinner than brass, so brass cases would have less volume...leading to high pressures. I don't know how powder reacts differently to a berdan vs. Boxer primer.

I'd expect most accuracy handicaps to be the bullet itself.

There are also plastic bullets that only use a primer .
I don't pull bullets , but tried the plastic pills for mussel memory . They worked but were better with mag primers
but really all the plastic ones are good for is shooting ant
hills . [ Shooting ant hills makes it easier to get the poison down the hole ]

Another one here that uses the WD-40 method.

All it will make is a loud pop. People will just think you're shooting a .22 and missing your target lol.
I just take them outside. The last time I shot primers only is when I had to remove a bunch of 50BMG primers from crimped demilled military brass and didn't want to trust the original primers when loading for a match. Trust me, primers can sound louder than .22lrs.

Some people use the "pull out" method of birth control. It probably is more effective than using WD 40 for "deactivate" primers. But, neither one is reliable or recommended by those in the know.

$10 says they will after they dry out.

Somebody posted a test of different methods and found that primers are surprisingly hard to kill.

^^^ This! My friend & I shoot rubber bullets with primer only & they are pretty loud!

I'm only posting to talk exactly about rubber bullets.

That's the answer IMO. deactivate the primer by emptying the case fully, seat a rubber bullet by thumb, and shoot in your garage for fun. 2 layers of towels makes a servicable backstop.

If you can't find rubber bullets, make your own with a delrin rod. they don't have to engage rifling much at 12 feet.
