When reloading turns bad

You know when things get bad for reloader?
You tend to impulsive buy due to upgrade, good deal etc. Then realize you have a few too many presses. Not enough room.
You thought reloading would save money. But then you buy components even for stuff you don't own or need.
You shoot so you can hurry and cook up another pet load.
Omg is everyone else the same? Or am I alone?

I still have the one press.
Buy supplies & components when I can, but only for the calibers I shoot.
The only exception is brass that I have for firearms I don't have (.40sw & 30-06).
I enjoy reloading, but don't have the sickness.

I'm too practical. I only have one single stage press and only reload for what I have. I even try to limit the guns I buy so as to not have 5oo many calibers to stock.

7 presses? Is that all? Right now I have two presses sitting in the back seat of my car, 4 step up in my home, another dozen or so in storage and I just picked up another 15-20 presses a few weeks ago that are still in my truck.



OK, I'll confess that +20 of those are for the LA and Ventura reloading clubs. I only have 6 shotgun presses, a 450, a 550, an ammomaster progressive, a Lee hand press, A Lee 50BMG classic press, a Hornady 50BMg press, 3 or 4 rock chuckers and a RCBS JR.

+1 My only weakness is being a little too obsessive about picking up brass at the range. Sometimes it gets in the way of shooting.

I'm tempted to buy a progressive press, but just don't load enough, so I'm still using the Rock Chucker I bought new in 1978. I put a nice roller handle on it from Inline.

Bought one system that could do most of it all and never looked back - Dillon.

I don't see a problem. You could be spending your money on something else like slow ponies, fast women or bad whiskey (maybe not as fun though).

I have no idea how to measure how much brass I have. I can say that I once bought enough buckets of 50BMG brass to fill the bed of my Dodge Truck. Yea, if I had packed it in boxes, it wouldn't have taken up quite as much room but, the guy already had it in buckets.

The professional $100K annual types that shoot action pistol, USPSA, Bianchi, Steel Challenge, they don't reload. They might have at one time, might want to, surely they know about reloading but as a practice they don't.

For those action pistol types who make a $whole lot less but find their way into the top 10% of shooters will often have two Dillions, but only one is set up on the bench at any one time. A brand name solid empty and covered single stage press is usually anchored at the end of the bench .

All the top Rifle shooters regardless of profession that I know actively reload. And that most of them have already bought and tried all the presses that I'd like to have. T7s, Forester, LE Wilson Hand Dies just to name a few. This same lot of shooters do not part with their reloading presses even though the equipment in not in use. About 75% of these rifle shooters also have a Dillion 550 at the ready. This group also usually has approximately $600 dollars more invested in gauges and measuring tools and spare parts than the pistol shooters do.

Former Special Forces types, who, as a coincidence, Reload, use the most rugged single stage press they can find such as the Redding Ultramag Press. The small stuff such as 7.62X51mm ammo they just buy off the shelf after their morning rather than evening workouts.

Common with about 50% of all the Reloaders I know have both a drill press and a vice and put both to work on a regular basis.

This is exactly me! I spend more time worrying about brass than where my shots are hitting. The exception is when I shoot 22lr.

I'm too poor and cheap to buy that much. As it is, my Dillon 650 is not used as much as it could be.
