and if you buy them from brownells its even cheaper.
wait for the hornaday's to go on sale. WAIT FOR A 10% off coupon and free shipping.
I think last year I paid 378 for a case. shipping was 44lbs and it was free.
next month I am going to try the hornaday 62g
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Dang, they're on sale right now and their shipping is cheaper than the other place. $.0706/ea. shipped! The 62gr. come to $.086 shipped, also tempting.

I can't put out another $400+ out right now so I'll have to see what extreme is gonna do about the ones I bought.

Brownells has had them on sale every couple of months. Just wait for sale and 10% discount and free shipping coupon.

I only order bullets now when I get free shipping.

I emailed them Jan 20th asking about the discrepancy between what's advertised and what I received. They replied the 22nd asking for a photo so I sent it. About a week & a half later I emailed asking that they replace them with what's advertised or refund me. Several days later still no response so I called my bank and put in for a stop payment.

They took over 2 weeks to ship these out, I think 3 weeks actually. They're not what's shown/described. Then when there's an issue they stop communicating. Not good service. I read somewhere that another guy took issue with the misrepresented bullets and said they played games with him for a couple months 'till he gave up, I wasn't gonna play that game. I gave them ample opportunity to resolve the issue, now I'll see what they do when their money gets taken away.

Two days prior to this order I ordered some 9mm that were also 'in stock' and they took a long time to ship also. Both orders were 3-5 days before Christmas so I expected some amount of delay, but not weeks.

To their credit, they didn't bill my card 'till the day the 9mm shipped and the .224 didn't get billed 'till a couple days after I'd received them. I briefly thought those junky bullets were gonna be free. On the down side, if I hadn't checked I mighta been boned with an overdraft. I assumed they'd bill my account when the order was placed and I almost spent some of that money. Yes, my fault for not keeping better tabs on my $, but it's like having someone sit on a check for a few weeks before cashing it and forgetting that money is spoken for.

OP, sorry to hear about your bum deal, but thanks for posting it. The lesson about plated bullets is priceless (or at least worth the price of a new .223), especially for those of us who still don't know what we don't know.

The .224 bullets are FMJ, not plated. Their pistol bullets are mostly plated.

I still have a few of the Xtreme .224 bullets with the real cannelures. The price sticker said $45 so it was quite a few years ago. I could shoot 1" groups @ 100 yards with my 20" homebrew AR using 25g H335.

I just bough 1k .224 55g fmjbt's from 223bulkbullets for $83/k shipped. They look like the new Xtreme bullets with the stamped cannelures.

I'm still getting 1" groups with my 16" Ruger ARR at 100 yards with the right load. This was with some LT-30 that I got on sale for $20/#

I haven't worked up a real accuracy load yet, but I know they are at least MOA accurate. Good enough for blasting ammo.

The bullets in your picture aren't what I got got from Xtreme. The ones I got have 'cannelure' grooves that are more like scratches on the surface. Yours aren't a true cannelure, but they're at least close.

Today Wells Fargo gave me a 'provisional credit' on my account pending further investigation. I also finally got an email back from Xtreme today; coincidence? Xtreme's email below.

We purchase purchase and manufacture 55 grain FMJ projectiles so tooling may be slightly different resulting cosmetic differences between projectiles. there are no determinable differences in ballistics.
                    Thank you

"Cosmetic differences" doesn't begin to explain the difference between what they advertise and what I received. After further research it appears they've been selling these inferior bullets for quite a while and it's surprising they've gotten away with it for so long. If they somehow get Wells to fund them I'll sue them. It's unacceptable to grossly misrepresent a product like this.
