I would bet my entire gun collection that no one can produce evidence of a single instance in which one of these rounds was effective and the other was not. Shot placement trumps 23grs of bullet weight and/or 100fps of velocity 100% of the time. In a likely self-defense scenario (indoors, no hearing protection), the reduced sound of the subsonic 147 would make this decision for me.

that's why i said upthread that considering both are very good, the most lethal round will be the one subby shoots the best.

A 22LR head shot and even Andre the Giant never walks again.

        Accuracy trumps all.

          not if it bounces off.

as noted already, while the 124gr has penetrated more in several tests, the 147gr still reaches the "sweetspot" as deemed by whoever makes these determinations.

do i think 2" of gel penetration makes the smaller bullet more lethal?
no, but i am not trying to convince you or anyone either way.

You should seriously try 147 grain HST +p even if just for fun. I swear that stuff makes a glock 19 feel like a 357 magnum! I imagine the wounds would be pretty epic.

What are you feeding. What works well in a duty pistol, 4-5 in does not work well in a subcompact Solo or P938 with a 3 in. Not enough muzzle velocity to expand on many of them and they go through like a FMJ. SHOOTINGTHEBULL410 has done a number of ballistics tests with the Sig P938. The Federal HSTs in 124 and 147 boyh standard and +P seen to be the best. I’m using Federal 150 in my P938. You might check out YouTube videos by 410 just to see what he has to say.

As I recall, the Mossad for a time used cut down Colt Woodsman's as close-in wet work tools. They figured 10 rds of 22 would do more damage than the couple-three 38 rounds you could shoot in the same time.

Might be a myth, but I heard this from a couple of different sources.
