Anybody here loading 45 raptor?

I need a couple dummy cartridges for a rifle I'm trying to build, but I'm not quite ready to plunk down the cash for a lot of 250 casings. Or if somebody can point me towards any company selling loaded ammo I can take it from there... I swear I have googled the sh*t out of this already, but still coming up empty.

BW Outfitters in Denison, IA says they'll start selling loaded ammo "soon", (read, two weeks) If you haven't yet, check out the 45 Raptor Enthusiasts Page on Facebook. I will be loading for it but have to heal up from the costs of the barrel and upper first before buying brass.

Yeah I think buffalo bore is supposed to start loading ammo "soon" as well. I didn't think about looking for a FB group. Thanks for that

For situations like this, I make my own. I'd be opening up a couple 308's, or looking for 35 cal, 375 cal versions of 308, evne cut down a 30-06 for the purpose.

Doesn't need to be perfect if you are just looking for some dummies.

I think cutting down some 30-06 is just what you need here.

Everything I've read says that's a bad idea. 30-06 is a tapered case and the 460 S&W/45 Raptor is straight walled. Also, the neck area will be too thick and would have to be turned down as well. Kind of the same problem making 300 Blackout cases from European .223. It looks good on paper and might work but I have the same attitude about this as I do converting Berdan brass to Boxer, you're setting off an explosion inches from your face, why chance it.

The case will have some heavy taper yes, and look really goofy. But it will headspace fine, and the bolt can lock over the rim OK. All he needs to check for feeding, etc.

Don't think of it as an explosion, think of it as a pressure vessel ramping up to 60 ksi of pressure. It's just extra zeros. If you do your engineering homework, everything is just fine.

Feeding will be an issue later on, and normally I would be a-ok with that, but in this case I think I need something more dimensionally accurate. I'm having a custom barrel made and the gentleman doing the work asked for one. I'm assuming it's for checking fit in the finished chamber.

Looks like they mostly do cowboy calibers... Still might be worth a call though.
