Please any good deals on 38 special ammo ?

Hope this is the right place, Idk

    Little help please ?

Been looking for a decent $ on 38 special ammo for sometime, but really haven't found anything.

Just looking (mostly) for FMJ of any type, to stock up before Jan 1st.

Still needing LE boxes of Gold Dots 135gr SB, so I guess that also, best $$ I found on these was $29+/box so not really great, $25 would be awesome.

    Thanks CG's members.

If you shoot even a moderate amount of 38sp you need to reload or make friends with someone that does. Start collecting brass you can reload it basically forever.

Wow $25 for a box of 50 rounds works out to 50 CPR... thats freakin expensive!! I think even Midway has them cheaper than that.

OP if you shoot 38 Special a lot seriously consider reloading. I'm loading 158 gr plated for 16 CPR (~$8 for a box of 50) and this is on the high side.

                Thanks guy's for the input.

38 spl is high everywhere it seems, dose not matter if LRN or FMJ all HI $.

So I see Ranger 38special + P 130gr Defense loads that are very close to many other regular loads in cost, so popped for some of those.

Tell me is $149/case of 500 of these a good deal ?

Also I usually run Gold Dot 135 +P SB's, how do you think these (Ranges) will compare to the GD's for a SD round in j-frame ? As it is difficult to find the GD for a reasonable $ so far.

                Thanks again

I shot half a box of the Ranger 130 defense loads today in my SW RR8. Felt the same as the freedom munitions 125 38sp new. I had bought the half case from Target..

Good time to reload. I am at $6.50 (box of 50) with X-treme 125 grain plated FP.

May also be time to consider getting a 9mm. The other reloaders will tell you the cost of 9mm and 38 Special is identical but supply and demand will put the 9mm at $7.76 and 38 Special at $20.25 at Walmart.

.38 SPL is one of the funnest rounds to reload for. You do not need anything expensive. A single stage press, some components and a set of dies and calipers and you are Robinson Caruso making ammo that works. You can probably get into it for about $150 and then make ammos that cost you around $4-$7 per box of 50.

                        Just keep saving your brass.

less 10% with coupon, less 12% via gifftcardzen, less 4% via Active Junky.

                          Good luck!

Great round to reload. Multi-purpose ammo. Have loaded 125, 147, and 158gr in stout loads and bunny loads. Works in snub nose or Blackhawk. Feel the same about 38 Super for 1911.
The 38 Special dies will also enable you load 357 magnum someday.

Totally agree. Would load bear creek moly 148gr hollow base wasdcutters so light that you could almost see them flying ( not really ) and they would just about shoot through the same perfeperfectly round hole. I would look for the puff of dirt because the gun would barely move. Kindov like 3gr of TG behind a 55gr 223 bullet.
