    Barnes question.

Ok, so after the recommendations on a bullet weight for my 300 savage I chose the 130ttsx. As soon as I ordered them I emailed Barnes for some data and didn't get a reply. The bullet is very long and at the last groove will just be able to eject loaded.

So the question is can I use the 130 gr jacketed data.

I really wanted to load some tonight and do some testing.

I think you need to use barnes load data i will get a hold of divernhunter he helped a lot of people with barnes reloading.
you will need to load it to the last ring or beyond copper or non lead in general groups better with the jump.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

Failing any other input I would default to what Barsness figured out. He found that in general Barnes bullets tend to produce less pressure than the equivalent weight lead bullet. Yes they are longer and therefore stick into the case more (reducing capacity and increasing pressure), but with the pressure rings they engrave into the rifling easier than swaging a grooveless gilding metal jacketed lead bullet. Low end data for the weight shouldn't be compressed, even with the longer copper bullet.

I'd start at low end lead data for 130 grain lead projectiles and work up slowly keeping an eye on velocity and pressure signs. If you start making similar velocities to what you (should) make with 130 grain lead projectiles, I'd say you're in the ball park.

        All that being said:
Clean and decopper your barrel before switching to the Barnes bullets. I (and many before me) have also found that the Barnes bullets tend to like being pushed at max velocities for both efficacy on game and precision grouping.

Thanks, I have used the Barnes on other caliber's. Barnes doesn't have load data for 300 savage. So I wanted a little input.

Odd they haven't gotten back to you, as I've emailed them before and have had them reply. Took a week or two though if I recall correctly.

I don't like barnes bullets or manual .
I bought some for the 50 AE . To long , it took them 3 weeks to respond and by that time they had changed the web page to say - won't work in Desert eagle .
                  They were given to a S & W 50 cal owner [ for about 1/2 bottle of H110 . ]

Try calling them. I have always been able to speak to someone about questions.

Ya, they take a week or more to email back, but every time I've called they email it within the hour.

There is some decent information here for 300 Savage and 130 TTSX

Anyone tried either of these bullets on elk in this cartridge or a .308 win? My 12 year old daughter wants to hunt elk and is a little recoil sensitive. She usually shoots a 125 grain NBT in her .300 Savage for deer and tolerates it pretty well, thinking the 130 grain won't be much of a step up.

Did you just assume the wait staff gender?
