Anyone try the .223 or .308 polycase inceptors yet?

I got a box of each to try out, but I haven't found any reviews on it's accuracy. I'm hoping they'll be a cheap, legal, round for blasting ground squirrels when the non-lead thing is fully implemented - but the "short range rifle" name doesn't inspire confidence in their accuracy. They aren't on the 'certified non-lead' list yet, but a bunch of the other polycase projectiles are, so I think it's just a matter of time for them to update it.

I should have results on the 223 after this weekend.

Well the NAME sounds awesome! But it also does NOT sound reloadable. Blech.

Possibly called SHORT RANGE due to a heavily reduced charge so maybe at 600 yards your pills have dropped about 4' instead of the usual 8"...

I have not played with any lead free projectiles. I have mixed feelings about them.

They are bullets, not polymer cases. MV is 3500-3700fps min-max load, so they're trucking along, but the BC must be awful. Soon I'll have no choice WRT lead free, price is right on these though. They loaded up ok with chamfered case mouths, kind of like cast bullets.

either way let us know how they perform at distance. Areas demanding lead free projectiles are going to inevitably be the testing grounds for what they are going to force upon the rest of us.

OH! I thought you meant the OTHER POLYCASE INCEPTORS...

Thems meant for short range tactical situations, like intruder in your house tactical situations, and all you have is your beltfed shrek or sheik or whatever the hell they call it... AR-15 and you gotta unload on someone. Those are usually meant for metal targets and close up training with steel and all. If you buy them to kill paper either close up or at distance, you have wasted your money.

And I am getting my data from common sense. I just found a bucket in my room so I am using it up and almost out of it for a few days. These are FRANGIBLE projectiles. FRANGIBLE only has ONE purpose. Up close and personal without over penetration- So use in your home and on a close range with metal targets.

They could function much like Varmint Grenades on squirrels though. Accuracy though, frangible tend to be delicate at times. Be careful when you load them, sometimes they can crumble. At least earlier .223 frangees I have gotten ahold of cracked the base off the projectile as I was loading it into a case in a nonconventional way... (twisting with my fingers)

Yeah but, I dunno if you want them for hunting, certainly not to eat I hope. That could be nasty.

The 223s gave me groups about 3-4" worse than fmjs at 100 yards. That's probably good enough for squirrels in timber, but not much more.

Hmm. I wonder how hard it would be to make some .224 projectiles with only some .22lr cases and NO lead. They would be very light, but maybe fill them with hot glue or something.

                Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Wet sand. Locking wet sand. And after you crimp them let them sit and dry... I wonder what the weight would be.

Tungsten shot and hot glue! It wouldn't be on california's 'certified lead free' list though...
