Rocky Mountain Reloading "thick-plating" load data

    Howdy,

Does anyone have experience loading the RMR "thicker-plated" bullets?

Can you use FMJ load data? Lead data?

    Thinking of picking up these:

    Product Description
This is our own brand of .357 / .38 Caliber bullets! While these are hollow point bullets, they are not designed for expansion. They may mushroom a bit, but do not expect large expansion.n

These bullets have a cannelure and thicker plating than you most plated bullets. We do not recommend exceeding 1,400 FPS.

    Thanks!

Plated bullets use LEAD data. THAT is the way I always see it and that is how I work up my ladders...

what is the point of shooting hollow points if they do not expand?
Just to match OAL of cartridge, approximate bullet profile or weight?
For range use and training, what would the purpose be? Just to practice clearing jams...
Anyways, it sounds like these are just another plated option. The role of plating is to reduce lead vapor exposure and barrel leading. Berry's double struck seemed pretty consistent in bullet size and weight. But that was from their process and not the thickness of the plating.
I would assume that if the final sizing was done before plating on this brand, the extra plating would just cause more variability.
Load as if plain lead bullet.

Their HP's seat more consistently. Not by much, but they do. Really good bullets. Sometimes the HP's are cheaper.

I can't tell that they're thicker. They load and shoot like anything else. Use lead or Berry's data, seems like you can always find Berry's.

All I use in 9mm .40 45acp and 10mm. I use fmj data with no issues.

I loaded a bunch a couple of days ago in .38 SPL. I use data for LRN.

Nice bullets, very consistent in size.

I've used their 110gr plated 30 carbine bullets with 15gr Win 296 and never had any issues. I would expect similar results with these as well.

I don't have one yet, but I'm planning on getting a lever action in 38/357.

For now not worried about jams, as I'm loading for revolvers.

                  Thanks!

Perhaps this is an excuse to buy a chronograph and build up some loads.

                    Thanks!
