    Broke my Dillon!!!

Have the day off and hoping to get some reloading done...Reloading 45 ACP, got thru 25 rounds and broke my Dillon 650!!!

At first, I thought the press got caught up on a case cuz it came to a hard stop, peeked down and saw a black plastic piece sitting across the shellplate with a bunch of spilled powder (great!). Carefully trying to clean everything up without making a bigger mess, I notice that the plastic piece was part of the primer cam!? (It's the thingy attached to the frame that advances the primers in the primer circle thingy ).

I didn't feel anything odd at all. It just broke??? Weird. Even weirder in that the only thing it does is advance that arm thingy. Not exactly a high stress part. And when I reload, I go slow and deliberate. Not like I'm trying to crank out 1k rounds in an hour.

Kudos to Dillon. I called them and a few minutes later, they've got a replacement part out in the mail to me! Right on!!! The CS guy I talked to said he never heard of anyone breaking one of these things before. Oh well, I guess I gotta be 'that guy'! LOL!

Thanks! Kind of an uneventful day in the reloading room (garage) today.

The last time Dillon sent me a replacement part, it took 3 days to my door if I remember correctly. I should have it by the weekend.

Ha ha. I broke the same part last week but it was 100% of me being stupid. Luckily the cam is part if the Dillon spare parts kit so no downtime.

The retaining ring busted off the top of my 9mm decapping die. I was expecting to pay a few bucks, and they sent 3 ASAP, GRATIS. I had owned it for a few years already.

              Dillon rawks!

There is no way I can be put out of business when it comes to loading, I have one stand with 4 presses installed, on another I have 2 and I have one installed on another. The stand with one press holds the press with clamps that is the one that lost the ram out the bottom, I called RCBS, they said they would send me a new one; I wanted to know what a new one meant, I was not going to trade my Rock Chucker off for a new one. They sent me a ram and repair kit.

Yes, there is. Wanna bet? Lol. Jk.

Impressed with your multitudinousness of presses. I mean, you are truly one awesome guy. 7 presses? I bet you get all the ladies.

Sorry for the confusion, I have 7 presses mounted on stands, I have 4 progressive presses in boxes and 14 Herter presses including the 2 ram, turret , super 3s and 'U' type press. I have 45 Herter shell holders, my favorite shell holder is the RCBS shell holder, it is one loose fitting shell holder. There are advantages to having shell holders that fit like a hand-me-down shirt, Herter shell holders fit.

I loaded so many rounds on my Dillion 550B that the compound leverage block fatigue fractured. I may have been over 100,000 rounds at that point. Anyway, Dillion wanted the press back and fixed it for free! Outstanding, no BS warranty.

Yay for you! But, why do you have so many? I mean, you can only stand at one reloading press at a time, that is unless you really enjoy pulling your handle...

Maybe so, but when you reload what stance do you use?
