Yep . Tried it with 32/20 to 25/20 to 218 bee , once . The loss was enormous , so now 32/20 stays 32/20 , 25/20 stays 25/20 and I search for original cases for all of them . At close to $1.00 per case and at even a 25 % loss can make it not worth the effort.

These little cases are really thin and crumpled shoulders are the norm .

And Bumslie , tried there said at least a 4 month back order after I paid the money , so far no money returned and no cases . They said all they had went to previous back orders.

Wow, I had no idea it was so rare. I had a guy next to me shoot 100 rounds of it last Wednesday. I picked it up after he left. I had no use for it so I sold it to a recycling center in Santa ana for $2.00 a pound.

25-20 is an obsolete cartridge...it's over 30 years old and has no bearing in todays shooting.

Some guy...told me...that 25-20s will just bounce off a paper target at 100 meters.

                        Brass and Bullets

When 25-20 brass or bullets are available you need to move fast.

I caught the brass off Gunbroker when LG Outdoors put it there a few years ago.

I was on the Midway notify me list for the 60 grain bullets for two or three years. They didn't last long before they were once again OOS.

A friend hooked me up with some 60 grain pointed SP's he had left over.

My 25-20 is a Savage Sporter so pointy is ok.

I make 218 bee brass out of starline 32-20 all the time, must have form dies from either rcbs or redding. mine are the rcbs from midway https://www.midwayusa.com/product/76...from-32-20-wcf
the hard part is I take it one more step down to 20 killer bee. now that hornady is making 218bee brass I might buy some of that

Yep I scored as well .

So this story starts with the quoted post :

Picked up the brass , Thank you again . Got it home and started inspecting , it was actually loaded ammo. Found a couple problems right away. There were a number of rounds that had case neck splits. Started pulling them down found a few that could have been squibs , only had 3.3 grains of powder , the ones with the same bullet also had a few that were over 8 grains , could not find a powder in all my books that had a charge rate . The over 8 would have been over charged . Read a squib then an over charge with same bullet behind it in the old guns it was meant for.

Upon further inspection found imminent case head separations , some so bad you could see cracks on the outside after tumbling .

Started with 150 , lost 24 to various splits , separations and dented cases. Dented so bad wouldn't use them ( they were the same brand cases as the splits and separations).

So to sum it up , if your unsure , meaning if you didn't reload them yourself , pull the things down . It can and will save you a lot of future trouble . Can you imagine the cost of a "new" barrel for a lever action even older than me ? Or how about your body parts ? Those I don't think can be replaced , at least not real working parts .

Did get a few j-word 40 grainers and a bunch of cast w/gas checks.

Look out ground squirrels here I come ( a rancher I know has me "remove" them , he hates losing cattle to broken legs).

And now my neighbors know how I keep a nice green lawn .
