    what is hotter?

I guess the short version of this question is, "what is the hottest bulk ammo?"

Before 2018 hits, I'll be stocking up on thousands of rounds of ammo and might as well get the "hottest" bulk ammo I can get. The ammo listed below can be found in bulk, all for around the same price. So why not get the hottest one?

I am referring to the brass case/FMJ/standard grain offerings from these companies in both 9mm and .45 ACP

I also do not care about how "dirty" the ammo is.

I am also aware that there are a dozen other ammunition choices. I have shot thousands of rounds of most of these and would like to stick within these 6 options.

I am aware that manufacturers put this information on their websites, but they never mention barrel length and some manufacturers tend to exaggerate some results.

I am hoping to hear from someone with a chronograph and plenty of experience?

Is one of these bulk ammo offerings known to be "hotter" than the others?

    1. Winchester white box
    2. Blazer brass
    3. Remington UMC
    4. Fiocchi
    5. Perfecta
    6. Federal American Eagle

There is this thing called a chrono that will help answer your question. No one here can answer which is going to be "hotter" in your guns, because we do not shoot your guns.

      Why is hotter important?

Reliability, accuracy and velocity are important factors.

If you are shooting paper the paper does not care if the ammunition is hotter.

Stick to name brands and watch for bulk sales from Midway,Brownells and the other dealers.

Buy components and reload. Cheaper by far.

Want hot 9mm? Buy IMI ammo loaded for SMG's. It will break your gun, but you want it hot, right?

                what is hotter?

If you want hotter, buy a flame thrower...

You will need to chrono the ammo you like to then see what is hotter in your definition. I prefer accuracy over hotness...

Buy your own components and reload them your self. You can then tune the round to the hotness you want. It will be a heck of a lot cheaper then buying bulk ammo.

A max load of Power Pistol. Now there's some flames.

Or the NATO-spec stuff, I believe that is +P.

                    Neva used a chono.

Quick answer, snappy to soft: wwb, ae, perfecta, blazer, rem, fiocchi.

Look for win 9mm nato for hottess, or +p varients.

Just get Winchester's NATO stuff and tell yourself it's the hottest bulk ammo a person can run in their gun.

The ammo doesn't have to be very good as long as there is a lot of it.

Before I started reloading.. I would buy many different brands of ammo with different bullet weights...
In search of the most accurate ammo for MY guns..
Now that i reload,, I still look for the best accuracy with different bullet and powder combinations..
My search for the best factory SD/HD ammo is always evolving and I buy and try most of the new and improved ammo just to give it a test ...
Sometimes its better and most times its not,,, but you get the drill...
The hottest factory and reloaded ammo are very rarely the ammo that is best in your gun...
Buy a few different boxes of ammo and bench test before bulking up on one.... Cheers...

Overall, my guns have liked FAE when I've shot factory.

                              HEY!

Now that I think of it, I DO have some IMI 9mm that I bought for my uzi. I bought a whole case from the gunsmith and it does NOT like to be shot out of a Taurus pt-92 or even a glock for that matter.

But for a Norinco Model B with a 16" barrel- not a problem, swap out the barrel for an 8" barrel though and you will have jams due to short strokes. My guess is it is not hot enough or maybe I just needed a lighter recoil spring... Or lighter bolt, or both.

OH, and that was with using a FACTORY 25RD mag. Not an aftermarket 32rd pos.
