This is a shot in the dark, but just maybe someone here has run into this situation before. I have a very old press with all the pieces being cast, not stamped. On disassembly I find the link arms or 'Dog Bones' can bew removed from one side, but not from the other due to the base of the action arm being in the way. I've attached a few pics... The question is... is the base press fit or threaded? Or did someone in another life time install the pivot backwards?? I can't believe that RCBS would have assembled it this way. Any thoughts??

Ahh yeah, I was like, is that the handle? Is it jacked or something? If not, leave it alone and put a longer cold axle rod over the handle...

Like no it's not jacked... I'm in the process of reconditioning the press and needed to know if the arm base was pressed in or screwed in. Already have the arm sleeve extention, and like it's not jacked either. LOLWITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

I have a JR press...it is great for handgun brass especially, very stoutly made.
The handle on mine screws in. If you want any pics when I get home, let me know.Comment

I used carb cleaner and it gets the black cr@p off without messing up the texture of the green. Once it's done a coat of Krylon in either semi-flat black or a green close to the OEM should look decent...
I plan on dedicating it to pull bullets only. I have a bunch of different calibers and do buy reloads, but disassemble them and reload my way. I picked up a pair of THESE and it makes the job quick and easy.
Many thanks for the offer, but I think I have it under control. The only hangup I had was the press fit/screw in issue...WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

Project update.. OK The press is an A2. Built like a tank but groady as hell. To clean up the parts I used my ultrasonic cleaner and it got all of the grunge off. Then I repainted it. I used Rustolium satin green. Not a perfect match but close enough. Replaced all the nuts and washers with stainless self locking. Came out looking pretty good. All just to pull bullets.... :-)WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

One thing I thought I'd pass on when painting around threaded holes. If you notice in the first pic I had all the openings filled with rolled paper. Keeps the paint out of the threads. Just roll up some printer paper cut into strips into a tight roll and stick it in the opening and let go. The roll will expand and seal out any paint when spraying.... 'Coarse ya already knew that... :-)
And thanks for the kudos...WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment
