    Ammo in safe

There's a good amount of weight on those bottom ammo boxes. Y'all think it's fine?

    Why wouldn't it be?

No. Bolt it down and fill it up with arms : )

Many moons ago I use to think the same way and once I move bulk ammo out I had reason to fill them up with arms.

Part of me likes ammo in the safe for weight. Part of me says it's a problem in case of fire.

In regards to stacking boxes, don't worry about it

Ammo in a fire is not dangerous. Unless the rounds are pressurized (as in a gun's chamber), they only travel a few feet. Most of the energy is used to rupture the case & the bullet has very little velocity.

I'm not stupid enough to think my safe will become a bomb. But when powder and primers auto-ignite you have the potential of introducing fire and shrapnel into your safe which at the very least contains the guns you're trying to protect, and at worst, also contains documents, pictures, jewelry or electronic devices you're trying to protect.

Is you safe going to become a bomb? Eff no. Are you going to have shrapnel, gasses, smoke and potential for fire inside your safe? Yes. Any fire wouldn't last long, the gasses and lack of oxygen will starve it, but it's still a real risk.

You are lucky if there is enough room for ammo and have enough to stock pile .
Between my wife's jewelry , paper , emergency money , my pistols and rifles - there is no room to store ammo [I have 6 nephews / 2 nieces that store their extra guns here - yes , I need a bigger safe ]

I have a separate wooden cabinet with locks to keep ammo away from arms. That way no accidents can happen with any gun in the safe.

IF I had any stockpile of ammo, and I don't mind you, I'd have a separate safe filled to the brim. If only I hadn't had that tragic accident crossing the moat...

Who has room for ammo? I have 2 large and 1 med safe and have a hard time just getting firearms and most mags into them and be able to close the door.

Where are all of your guns? You shouldn't have room for any ammo in a safe.

                            1) You need a bigger safe
                            2) You need more guns

If you're worried about them toppling over, cut some 1/8" wood and lay across the top to spread the weight. Should help.
