I find that S&B and Tula primers seat a bit more tightly into primer pockets than do domestic primers like CCI, Federal, Winchester, especially into previously crimped pockets even after they've been swaged or chamfered.

But once they are seated, ignition is reliable and yield consistent velocities.

      better than cci small pistol
reloading is like building tiny rocket ships. and testing how well they fly (or dont).

By and far the best bang for your buck. I recently sold off most of my other stored primers at 25 to 30 per k locally and bought 2x as many s&b from cabelas. About 15.00 per k if bought in bulk stacking various discountes and cash back. Over 10 k down the pipe and no issues priming or popping. Love em they are invaluable in making my 25.00 per k pistol ammo. I get to shoot all day on lunch money

I can attest to this. When seating the primer and there's a little resistance - STOP. It's the brass, not the primer. You might crush the primer and cause other problems. If you're using range pick ups, sort out the crimped brass.

Hmmm i have a bag of 270 i got a long time ago that had a few too many loose primer pockets. I was using rem 9 1/2 if i remember right. Will have to dig em out & see if the s&b seat any tighter. Might be an excuse to go shooting tomorrow

I ordered 30,000 when Cabela's had them at $16.99/K just over a year ago. I've probably only loaded 8-10K of them so far but haven't had any issues other than the fact that the edges of their cups are not as rounded as some other primers and, that can make them a tad bit harder to start to seat.

I agree with Stilly. No one should buy S&B primers! That way, they will be inexpensive and available next time I need some.

.270 brass is too easy to come by to try to salvage brass with loose primer pockets.

I was looking at the link above. I've read lots of good reviews with pistol but any issues with rifle?

When you see good prices on powder or primers, you buy them then and there. You do NOT wait for a good price on BOTH at the same location. If they happen to both be at a good price, then move on it, Else buy what works. If you pick up enough primers to make the hazmat only $2 or less per 1000, then you are usually okay, unless that price is ridiculously high to start with.

PVI, Grafs, Midsouth and 3RD Gen Gunners are the only places I have ever really found both powders AND primers in what I was looking for and it only happened a few times. Usually my order from Cabelas is primers only.

I've run two group buys of primers on this sale, now, first one just came in. Where are you located? I'm putting together a third.
